Who doesn’t love Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds? Is it even humanly possible to dislike them? I highly doubt it.

By finding the perfect balance between what to share on social media and how to come across as relatable yet authentic, nobody does it quite like Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Here are seven times they proved themselves the best couple in Hollywood.

1. The Stories They Share on Talk Shows

Talk shows can sometimes seem fake, but Blake and Ryan have mastered the art of coming across as genuine, relatable, and funny on their talk show appearances. What makes it even better is that they love to talk about how much they love each other on talk shows while throwing in a couple of funny stories. In an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Ryan told a funny story of when Blake gave birth to their first daughter, James.

Ryan said, “I jammed a little Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get It On.’” He continued, “It was like steak knives came out of her eyes. Like, ‘Are you f***ing sh***ing me right now?’ Real bad, yeah. But she was a mercenary. I think I just caught her right in the middle of a contraction…She was making jokes the entire time.”

Ryan went on to give some parenting advice to new dads: “Just do the dirty work, man. You gotta do the diapers, gotta do the middle of the night thing…a human being will exit your wife, so she’s done enough.”

While this story shows that they both share a sense of humor, more importantly, it shows that Ryan values and respects Blake’s role as a wife and mother. His love for her is genuine, which is so refreshing to see in Hollywood.

Blake joined in on the fun during an interview on Good Morning America, where she laughed at one of his Instagram posts poking fun at her on her birthday. She said she had something planned to get him back, but this wasn’t the start or finish to their hilarious social media war.

2. Trolling Each Other on Social Media

Sharing a sense of humor is important in a relationship, and Blake and Ryan aren’t afraid to demonstrate their mutual sense of humor by making fun of each other on social media. Some of their most famous posts are birthday posts, like the time Ryan tweeted:

Blake got him back by tweeting out a photo of him with actor and friend Ryan Gosling, while conveniently cropping half of her husband’s face out of the photo.

Other social media posts include Ryan posting hilarious and unflattering (well, unflattering by Blake Lively standards) photos of Blake while he looks flawless, Blake making fun of Ryan’s cooking skills, and witty comments on each other’s Instagram posts.

Don’t worry, they also post sentimental photos of each other on social media, achieving the perfect balance between funny and sweet.

3. They Support Each Other’s Careers While Putting Their Family First

Celebrity marriages are infamous for being fake and short-term, making couples who are genuinely in love and want to grow a family seem rare. Blake and Ryan are not only the perfect match, but they both value their families and careers. More importantly, they have the same priorities.

Before having kids, Blake and Ryan agreed to avoid working on movies at the same time, so at least one of them could stay at home with their children full-time.

“Blake and I don’t do movies at the same time. If she is doing a movie in Thailand and I am doing a movie in Vancouver, we would just never see each other. We operate as a unit, and that works really well for us,” Reynolds said. “The kids stay with us, and the family stays together, and that is where home is. So if we are in Spain or Utah or New York, as long as we are together, we’re home.”

Though this has led both of them to turn down roles, it has created a healthy work-life balance for their family. They also support each other’s careers – Ryan was instrumental in convincing Blake to take on her role in The Shallows in 2016, which is one of her strongest performances to date. They’re living proof that you can have it all with a family and successful career; it’s all about sticking to your priorities, making sacrifices, and supporting one another.

4. When They Look at Each Other

Though chemistry isn’t the most important thing in a relationship, you can tell when a couple has it because sparks fly when they look at each other. Despite several years of marriage, Blake and Ryan still look at each other like lovestruck teenagers, and I can’t look away. I’ve seen so many pictures of them together, and the way they look at each other never gets old. They’re the definition of #marriagegoals.

This seems to be a common opinion, as a source told People that they looked like they were meant to be together on their wedding day. The source said, “When Ryan first saw her, his face broke into a huge smile that crinkled his eyes. They just stared at each other with absolute love. Their faces were lit up with the candlelight, and it looked like something out of a romance movie.”

5. Ryan’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Speech

Ryan earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in December 2016, and the ceremony was attended by the entire Reynolds family. 2-year-old James stole the show with her adorable head of blond curls, leaving 3-month-old Inez in her mother’s arms.

Though the entire family looked great, the most heart-warming part was when Ryan spoke of how much he loved Blake and how she made his dreams come true. His speech was heartfelt and thankful, with his signature humor sprinkled throughout. He said, “You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You make everything better, second to this star.”

He continued, “You make everything in my life better. You’ve given me two of the most incredible children I’ve ever hoped to have. You made me the father of my dreams when I thought I only had fun uncle potential.”

6. When They Asked for a Coloring Book To Play Tic-Tac-Toe at a Restaurant

Blake and Ryan took being #relatable to another level shortly before they got married when Blake had dinner with the Reynolds family in Vancouver. They met up at Altitudes Bistro, the more casual restaurant at Grouse Mountain ski resort, where Blake and Ryan requested a coloring book to play tic-tac-toe.

I love this anecdote because it shows that they’re exactly who we think they are when the cameras aren’t rolling. In a world where it’s hard to tell the difference between real life and what we see on social media, authenticity is incredibly endearing.

7. Blake’s Burnt Wedding Gown

Blake and Ryan got married in a beautiful, private ceremony in South Carolina in 2012, but the day had a few hiccups. While singer Florence Welch was performing at the reception, Blake noticed that she had accidentally burnt a hole in her custom-made Marchesa wedding gown with a sparkler.

"Florence Welch was singing and they brought out these sparklers, and I'm watching her sing," Blake said. "I look down and my wedding dress has a big burn mark from one of the sparklers. Right on the front."

Blake was understandably upset, but Ryan turned the mishap into something sweet and wonderful. Blake said, "Later, my dress was hanging up and Ryan said, 'Isn't that beautiful?' I said, 'What?' And he pointed to the burn. My heart just stopped, because it was such a sensitive little subject. And he said, 'You'll always remember that moment with Florence singing and the sparklers. You have that forever, right there, preserved.' Now that's my favorite part of the dress."

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but the world needs more men like Ryan Reynolds. Though many men see things like wedding dresses as frivolous, Ryan recognized what mattered to Blake and knew how to look on the bright side. This proves that the couple cares deeply about each other and has their best interests at heart. What more could you ask for in a spouse?

Closing Thoughts

Though celebrity couples like Tom Holland and Zendaya and Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger are universally beloved, no celebrity couple is as likable and relatable as Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Both are genuinely likable on their own, and they find a way to be better together while showing fans what a strong, healthy, happy, and realistic marriage looks like.
