The 5 Best Outfits From Selena Gomez’s Music Videos

Like many young women in their twenties, I've always been a fan of Selena Gomez. I’ve followed her career from her days as a Disney Channel starlet to a pop star and business owner.

She also has great style, some of her best looks being in her music videos. Here’s a breakdown of some of her best looks from her music videos through the years.

“Round & Round” — European Spy Chic

Back in her Disney Channel days, Selena was the lead singer of Selena Gomez & The Scene. Though nobody really cared who The Scene was, some of the music from her early days is too good to ignore. “Round & Round” was recorded by a 17-year-old Selena in 2010, and the music video was shot in Budapest, Hungary. She plays a spy in the video and has the perfect outfit to match.

Selena rocks a gorgeous camel-colored trench coat over a black dress, sheer black tights, black Louboutin heels, and accessorized with black leather gloves and oversized sunglasses. It’s very chic, timeless, and gives me Bond girl vibes, making this one of my favorite music video looks of hers.

“Who Says” — Fancy Black Gown

Another number from her Disney Channel days, Selena walks through the streets of Los Angeles in a gorgeous black gown of lace, sequins, and tulle. I don’t know about you, but my 17-year-old self would have done anything to wear a dress like that to prom.

“Back To You” — ‘60s French Girl Chic

Fast forward to 2018, when Selena rocks a ‘60s chic look in “Back To You.” Inspired by 1960s French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard, the music video plays out like one of his films, costumes included.

Though all of her outfits in the video are beautiful, the most noticeable is a bright orange and yellow crop top, white skirt, and white sneakers. She accessorized with bright orange earrings and a cropped haircut to match the ‘60s aesthetic.

“Boyfriend” — Classy in Head to Toe Red

This is a fun song full of so many cute outfits, but the opening number with the long red trench coat and matching heels is the winner. I love how she accessorized it with oversized sunglasses and a headscarf.

Though the coat is the best outfit, her champagne sequin dress is also stunning. I love that she has so many chic and classy outfits in a song that’s meant to be completely savage.

“De Una Vez” — Pink Floral Dress

The pink floral dress with puffy sleeves in “De Una Vez” is absolutely stunning. It looks beautiful on her, but the symbolism behind the dress is even more beautiful.

The majority of Selena’s post-Disney career has been consumed by her health issues and rocky relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. “De Una Vez” is entirely in Spanish, and the English translation reveals that it’s about a young woman reclaiming her identity and happiness after a toxic relationship. Floral prints are often associated with spring (groundbreaking), a season known for rebirth. The pink floral dress symbolizes a rebirth of a happier and healthier Selena, and I love that for her.

Closing Thoughts

From her days as a Disney Channel starlet to balancing a career as a pop star and business owner, Selena Gomez has always been one to show off great style in her music videos. Many of the clothes in her music video have matured along with her over the years from a teenager to a woman.
