July is almost over, which means it’s time to take inventory of what the fashion girls are wearing – and what they’re leaving behind – this month. As summer climaxes, so does summer style, and we’ve officially reached the fever pitch. When temperatures are high, inhibitions are low, and people feel more free to play and experiment with their style. If ever there was a time to break any remaining stylistic molds, it is now.
In July, nary was there a street corner without a pretty little sundress or a matching linen set. Color reigned, but, paradoxically, so did neutrals, and summer whites officially solidified their “top G” status. Ivory ensembles were seen in as many variations as there are shades of the pigment-challenged hue (ever tried painting your walls “white”?), and it was almost impossible to walk down the street without seeing an alabaster getup on tanned skin carrying a straw tote bag. Whether at the farmers market or the Italian Riviera, one thing is for sure: Girls be getting their whites on before Labor Day.
As far as everything else the girls are wearing – and notably what they’re not – look no further than the following to get all caught up:

French influencer Marielle Haon is a fan of pretty little sundresses (quelle surprise), and we’re now feeling compelled to add one or two more to our closet #influenced.
Palm Noosa Kub Dress, $259
Emily Ratajkowski rolled up to the annual British Vogue x Self-Portrait party in London in head to toe, you guessed it, Self-Portrait. The cutout velvet gown with sultry beauty to match made for a very unforgettable look.
EmRata later unveiled her new rouge locks in a figure-hugging green slip dress and heels back in NYC.
Speaking of head to toe, Hailey Bieber is a tall caramel macchiato in the “latte” beauty trend and matching tan set.
Mara Lafontan also channeled the Starbucks aesthetic with a taupe maxi (grande) for an evening summer soiree.
Tessa van Montfoort
Color guard, Varsity and JV edition. Tessa van Montfoort and her adorable daughter are a kaleidoscope of color on a hot summer day. All we know is, whatever team they’re on, we want to be a part of it. Put me in, coach!
Leonie Hanne is European summer personified in this bold graphic print. We love the interplay of geometric shapes and primary colors. It’s mesmerizing – and totally working for her.
Australian influencer Eloise Mummé donned polka dots in Paris for a playful, romantic vibe. Vive l’amour.
Jeanne Ménard giving a masterclass in summer layering. Crocheted shorts with a basic tee and a lightweight quilted vest is a look worth bookmarking.
Hot girl must: a statement back. And floor-sweeping length. Matilda Djerf knows.
Emelie Lindmark is radiant on her honeymoon in one of the best summer white ensembles we’ve seen to date. Mismatched ivory linens and a corseted bra top is doing it.
Plot twist: super into this “no pants” look from Alison Toby. There’s something very “we don’t need no education” about it that screams fashion anarchist. Which, as a *peaceful* revolutionary at heart, is a type of anarchy we can support.
Claire Rose Cliteur
It doesn’t get better than a ballgown silhouette in summer black. Created with a black tube top, full maxi skirt and cinched belt by Claire Rose in St. Tropez, it’s giving Catherine Zeta Jones in Legend of Zorro.
Elsa Hosk says everyone needs a vintage slip dress, and we very much see why. Sweet and sexy with a smidge of mystery – it’s the perfect summer vibe.
The French influencer known as Marine Diet is obsessed with stripes, and if this is what stripes can do for a girl, then so are we. Styled to perfection with an oversized blazer, leather crossbody and simple chic flip flops, it’s “effortless glamour” perfection.
Flowers. Pink. Bows. Whimsy. Everything we love in one look from French/Scandi influencer Audrey Afonso. Voilà. Bravo.
Anne Laure Mais
French influencer and creative director of Musier Paris, Anne Laure Mais is single-handedly resurrecting the leather minidress and sheer half-zip polo for 2023. Pointy toe slingbacks pull the look together and make it modern. And put it solidly at the top of our shopping list.
Russian model and blogger Mary Leest and friend Gabrielle Pozzoli were cream all the way down at Haute Couture Week in Paris this month, and the result was unforgettable. A refreshing twist on summer whites – we are transformed.
Spotted: Wimbledon Mode
As is her custom, Princess Kate donned many perfect looks at Wimbledon this month. This spring green set was one of our favorites, as it matched everything on the court from the terrain to the tennis balls.
Devastated by news of Ariana’s breakup, and also by this sophisticated melange grey Wimbledon look from Ralph Lauren.
Rumor has it she sat next to Andrew Garfield and Jonathan Bailey during the match, which has the internet in chaos.
Issa Rae, who stars alongside Margot Robbie in the Barbie movie, also had a standout performance at Wimbledon in a pink Alaïa mini dress. Match point.
Spotted: Barbie Herself
If Margot Robbie isn’t the real Barbie, she’s certainly fooled us. Seen in a truly prolific array of Barbie-inspired outfits over the last few months, Robbie has channeled the plastic icon with poise and commitment, and it has been a phenomenon in its own right. Robbie has single-handedly made the movie all anyone can talk about, and it’s paying off.
In a Netflix ‘n chill turn of events, Margot turned down the glam – but remained in character – while traveling this month. For a Barbiecore look that’s less eveningwear and more WFH, here’s all the inspo you need.
Shay Mitchell doing what she does best at the Barbie premiere: playing bombshell and slaying all the way.
French model and influencer Mara Lafontan’s take on Barbiecore was slightly edgier with a fuzzy pink mini and contrasting red tights. We give it five stars for originality and “rebel with a cause” energy.
Self-proclaimed Mediterranean Parisian Juny Breeze doing #Barbiecore the Parisian way: with handmade tricot knit and a chic headscarf. C’est parfait.
When it came to the style climate, July still looked very much like summer with cutie mini sundresses, flowy maxis, all-white ensembles, and pretty pops of color. What July didn’t look like was fitted blazers, leggings, and shapeless tent dresses – such were nowhere to be found. Our end of summer prescription includes squeezing every last drop out of these last few weeks in preparation for colder days ahead. In other words, wear all the flowy dresses, get extra sunkissed (nothing beats that vitamin D glow), and stay outdoors *well* past bedtime.
