Rebel Wilson, known best for her role as "Fat Amy" in Pitch Perfect, has just released her memoir Rebel Rising.

The actress has some shocking revelations in her book – including how Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen allegedly asked her to perform a sexual act that was not scripted while filming a sex scene and pressured her to be naked. Cohen's representatives call the accusations "demonstrably false."

Wilson also says that her agents were against her losing weight. While going on a stroll with Sunday Morning's Lee Cowan, the actress recalled her struggles with being overweight. "Being quite big, I was like, who would find it enjoyable to walk up a hill?" she laughed, adding that playing Fat Amy was what brought her fame. "That was really the one that really changed my life and actually made me lots of money – I shouldn't say that!"

"My agents were against losing weight because they thought, 'Well, you've got such a pigeonhole, but it's such a valuable pigeonhole, being the fat, funny girl. So we don't really want you to lose that.'"

The pressure to maintain her large physique complicated her relationship with food and fame. "People would see me being this confident big girl, [who] didn't seem to be restricted by being a big girl," Wilson said. "But then, what they wouldn't see is, you know, after a movie premiere, coming home and just eating a couple brownies and a couple cupcakes and then a big plate of ice cream and then feeling terrible about myself for doing that."

Wilson's motivation to lose weight was to get pregnant. In 2020, she dropped a whopping 77lbs through a healthy diet and exercise after speaking with a fertility doctor. She began taking long walks and used Ozempic to maintain her weight – a popular medication that healthcare professionals do not recommend for weight loss. The actress defends the drug, believing that it can be good for someone who has a "bottomless appetite for sweets."

Love how candid Wilson is, but I'm hoping it doesn't influence people to seek out Ozempic to suppress their appetite.

While her agents saw her worth in her appearance, Wilson found her self-esteem in her authenticity. “I grew up not really trading on my looks. I was the personality girl,” she said.

“But after going through my whole health transformation last year, I’ve been in touch with this ‘inner siren,’” she continued. “It’s not about being a certain size or body weight or anything. It’s just about loving yourself and loving the journey that you’re on. And to me, the women I think are most beautiful are those who step into their own power.”
