Nobody Does Fourth Of July Outfits Better Than Taylor Swift

Nobody puts together a Fourth of July outfit quite like Taylor Swift does. So we’ve rounded up some of our favorite Independence Day outfits of hers from over the years.

Taylor Swift is known for her ability to change up her look with each album, or era, as she calls them. From country sweetheart to pop superstar and everything in between, each album always has a cohesive look that she wears not just while she’s performing but for her off-duty style as well.

So it’s only natural that someone as good at stepping into different style aesthetics as Taylor is would ace the perfectly chic and fun Americana look every woman wants to achieve on the Fourth of July.

As many know, Taylor Swift’s Fourth of July parties were a big deal. The star studded events were held at Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island mansion. (Yes, the one that inspired her song “Last Great American Dynasty” about socialite Rebekah Harkness.) And with water slides and flag cakes, Taylor made sure that they were must-attend events.

So if you’re looking for a fun Fourth of July outfit with a bit of a retro twist, then one of Taylor’s outfits will be perfect for you. Let’s take a trip down memory lane to her Keds of the Red era and the polaroids of the 1989 era and look back on some of her Fourth of July celebrations.

Striped Shirt and Shorts

Taylor picked out this red, white, and blue striped shirt for her 2013 Fourth of July bash when she invited everyone who was a part of her Red tour to come. Her high-waisted black denim shorts were the perfect choice for the busy top because it helped balance out the three different colors. This ensemble is super easy to recreate and is always a great choice for the Fourth.

Retro Red Floral Suit

Is there anything more perfect than a retro swimsuit on the Fourth of July? This red and white floral bikini was on point, and the pleated denim skirt she used as a coverup really played up the retro vibe.

Face Paint

If you think face paint is just for little kids, think again. Face paint can be a super fun way to celebrate the Fourth of July, and you and your family and friends can have fun putting it on each other. Also, don't forget a hat to keep the sun off while you’re outside all day!

Striped Sweater

The next year Taylor kept her Fourth of July outfit much more paired down. A simple navy and white striped sweater, some shorts, and she called it good. Simple, but still a great outfit with items there’s a good chance you already own.

Gingham Swimsuit

If you’re looking for a Fourth of July appropriate swimsuit that would still work during the rest of the summer, a gingham suit is the way to go. It’s a super classic print that will be in style for years to come, so it’s worth investing in a high-quality option that you’re absolutely in love with.

White Sweater

For a Fourth of July outfit (almost) everyone can throw together, try a white sweater and some jeans. It’s always classic and is perfect for later in the night when it cools off and you want to be in something more laidback but not a hoodie. And if you don’t have a white sweater, it’s a great style staple to invest in anyway.

American Flag Pajamas

If you’re throwing a big party for the Fourth of July this year in true Taylor Swift fashion, then consider picking up a bunch of matching Fourth of July themed pajamas for you and your guests to wear. It’ll make for super cute photos!

Denim Shirt and Red Shorts

Denim is just as American as apple pie, so what could be a more fitting choice for the Fourth of July? And paired with her red shorts you really couldn’t have a more classic Fourth of July outfit.

Navy Blue Sweater

What I love about many of Taylor Swift’s Fourth of July looks is that the pieces she wears are ones that she could feasibly wear throughout the summer or even into fall and winter. Novelty pieces that you’ll only wear once might be fun, but they're often a waste of the money you could be investing in something that you’ll get much more use from.

Red, White, and Blue Swimsuit

These matching swimsuits Taylor wore with Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne are seriously iconic. I’m still as obsessed with these photos today as I was when I first saw them. If you really want to go all out on some red, white, and blue-themed swimwear, then a suit like Taylor’s is exactly what you should pick out.

White Romper

How cute is her white romper? Something subtle like this works on the Fourth of July but will last you throughout this summer, and if it’s high quality, for years to come.

Closing Thoughts

Taylor Swift’s Fourth of July parties are legendary and the outfits that she wore to each of them, knowing her, were carefully thought out. Who better to take inspiration from for your Fourth of July look, right?
