Lily-Rose Depp has been silent about the headlines on her father and Amber Heard. According to Elle, she refuses to comment on the sensitive subject. The 23-year-old model admitted that she wants to keep personal matters "private" and that she doesn't have to answer for anyone. "When it’s something that’s so private and so personal that all of a sudden becomes not so personal…I feel really entitled to my secret garden of thoughts," she says in an interview with Elle.

"I also think that I’m not here to answer for anybody, and I feel like for a lot of my career, people have really wanted to define me by the men in my life, whether that’s my family members or my boyfriends, whatever. And I’m really ready to be defined for the things that I put out there,” the Voyagers actress adds.

The King star is known for being the daughter of Johnny Depp and model Vanessa Paradis. When the interviewer asked her about her thoughts on being called a "nepo baby," she laughed and said that she was familiar with the term. "The internet seems to care a lot about that kind of stuff," she says, "People are going to have preconceived ideas about you or how you got there, and I can definitely say that nothing is going to get you the part except for being right for the part."

Lily-Rose Depp adds that the internet cares way more about her family than the people who are casting her in movies. "Maybe you get your foot in the door, but you still just have your foot in the door. There's a lot of work that comes after that," she explains.

Depp has actually had to train and work hard to get roles in films: "If somebody's mom or dad is a doctor, then the kid becomes a doctor, you're not going to be like, 'Well, you're only a doctor because your parent is a doctor.' It's like, 'No, I want to medical school and trained.'" Of course, she was quick to mention that she was by no means comparing acting to a healthcare professional’s work. The starlet also believes that the term "nepo baby" is typically used for women, and not men. "I just hear it a lot more about women, and I don't think that it's a coincidence."

Lily-Rose Depp will be starring in The Idol, an HBO drama created by The Weeknd, Reza Fahim, and Sam Levinson, the creator of the popular TV series Euphoria. The Idol is set to release sometime in 2023.
