John Krasinski’s YouTube Show “Some Good News” Is Exactly What We Need Right Now

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, we are living in an uncertain and anxious time. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the sadness in the world, but we all need to look at some good news to warm our hearts. That’s where actor John Krasinski comes in with his new YouTube show, “Some Good News."

Krasinski, who is best known for playing Jim Halpert on The Office, is often regarded as one of the kindest and most genuine people in Hollywood. He took to Twitter to ask his followers to share #somegoodnews amidst the chaos of our current world and shared it in a late-night talk show style video on YouTube.

It’s safe to say that Krasinski did not disappoint in delivering us the good news we desperately need. Here are some of the highlights.

Praise for Healthcare Workers

Krasinski begins the show by thanking all doctors, nurses, and hospital staff around the world for their hard work and heroism. Let’s be real, healthcare workers and scientists are risking their lives to protect us, and deserve all the praise and gratitude in the world. Krasinski went on to show a compilation of healthcare workers receiving much-deserved praise from around the world for their heroism.

The Little Things

The next segment included videos of followers submitting heartwarming videos and small acts of kindness. One man gave a pack of toilet paper and a bottle of hand sanitizer to his delivery driver, an Irish man met his grandson through a window to keep himself, his son, and his grandson safe, and so many more stories that will warm your heart and make you cry tears of joy.

The Office Reunion

To celebrate the 15-year-anniversary of the premiere of a little show called The Office, Krasinski interviewed his entertainment correspondent, a.k.a. costar Steve Carell. Krasinski and Carell discussed some of their favorite memories from the set of the show, highlighting that the best part was how much the cast loved each other and wanted each other to succeed. They also treat us with a blooper from the iconic scene where Michael (Carell) ecstatically shows Jim (Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer, who will hopefully appear in future episodes) a tiny plasma screen tv that moves a few inches into the wall to create space. Krasinski and Fischer reacted the same way that all of us do every time we watch the scene — in uncontrollable laughter.

Interview with Coco

The final segment featured Coco, a 15-year-old California girl who had just completed chemotherapy. She arrived home to discover her entire street decked out with friends and family to celebrate social distance style. Her reaction was nothing short of pure joy, which she discussed with Krasinski, as well as how important it is to practice social distancing. She concluded her interview thanking all of the doctors and nurses who helped her during her treatment to end with a message of spreading kindness.

Closing Thoughts

In a world with so much uncertainty and anxiety, it’s important to hear some good news. Although the show was only fifteen minutes long, I smiled the entire time. Krasinski proves that showing good news, acts of kindness, humor, and the best of humanity is more important than ever. I really hope he keeps on making these episodes because this is definitely my new favorite show.
