If You Do This One Thing, It Makes Men Instantly More Attracted To You

2023 is right around the corner and as you’re likely prepping your list of resolutions, I’ve got one piece of advice for you: Learn your way around the kitchen, because if you can cook or bake, men are instantly more attracted to you!

They aren’t such simple creatures that a single meal will make them get down on one knee, but they do pay attention to what makes you a valuable partner. We know cooking isn’t necessarily a gendered skill (you need a smart sous chef, anyway), but men might see a lack of kitchen competence as a red flag.

The Way to a Man’s Heart

Biologically, we women are built to nurture. Our bodies can quite literally create and sustain life, but beyond that function, we’re psychologically wired to care for our loved ones. What better way to honor your man and support him than starting with his most basic needs? Take one look at Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, and you’ll see that food comes before almost all other things a person would need in life to feel satisfied – even before employment, intimacy, property, and friendship!

And guess what? The old saying that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach is mostly true, according to research! Over 60% of all men surveyed in a poll agreed with the statement, and nearly three-fifths shared that good food can improve their mood.

Honestly, don’t brush off this innocent proverb, as time and time again, research has shown that more than half of men value food as a way to their heart. Another poll suggests that 75% of men feel won over by good food, with over half of them admitting that their mood can be improved by a good meal. Our GI tract is often called our “second brain” because of its role in producing neurotransmitters responsible for a good mood like dopamine and serotonin. So if you’re cooking a meal with love and a healthy gut in mind, you’ll be setting yourself and your man up for improved moods! Plus, he might not be able to resist how cute you look in an apron.

Cooking Demonstrates You Can Be Selfless

There’s a lot going on in your life. Planning out a good meal and actually executing it takes quite a bit of effort, especially if it’s not just for you! Clue your man into how much you care by making a point to remember his most basic needs. It makes a man feel special and appreciated when he sees that you’re willing to put in the time and effort to make something nice for him…no matter if that’s something as simple as buttery eggs or as complex as a beef wellington.

Men Find Money Management Skills Pretty Sexy

If the man in your life wants to be the breadwinner, he’s likely going to be wary about a woman who has no idea how to manage money. If he sees you racking up a triple-digit DoorDash bill every week, will he ever feel confident in your ability to help him manage a household?

Let’s save those fancy meals out for a real date night at a restaurant that the two of you love. That way, meals out are more special because you can fully appreciate someone else preparing and serving you food. It’s a win-win: Date nights are more exciting, and home life is happier!

It Shows Just How Uniquely Creative and Ambitious You Are

Men and women have a lot of similarities but also a lot of differences. We complement one another and are each other's best partners for a reason! Where one is lacking, the other can help pick up the slack and keep the couple moving forward in life like a well-oiled machine. Your feminine attention to detail can really shine through in something like cooking or baking, since it’s a great way to express your creative flair and personality.

Also let’s be real, if your man sees you slaving away over an ambitious recipe, he’s bound to be impressed by your drive to see a project from start to finish! That said, even the less ambitious recipes can pack a wow-factor, so brush up on your basics before you try to test your cooking skills to their limit.

You’ll Feel Better, and He’ll Feel Better Too

While you shouldn’t be overbearing when it comes to what food your man eats, you have to admit that taking the reins on making nutritious, nourishing meals will not only make you feel your best, but your man will feel great too. Don’t go snatching chip bags out of his hands if he’s really in the mood to eat some cheesy, crunchy snacks, but do think of creative ways to make the things that you put in front of him wholesome and life-giving.

Home-cooked, good food is healthier because you know exactly what went into it. That could look like freshly-baked, warm sourdough bread or a full-fledged beef stir fry made without any of the nasty oils that restaurants rely on. Plus, if you’re eating right, you’ll have more energy to spend with your man, your skin will look more radiant, and your positive mood will inevitably rub off on him too.

Closing Thoughts

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to you that men like a good cook. It’s not oppressive to know how to do one of life’s most important tasks really well, it’s impressive. The skills you’ve got are a clear indicator of your priorities and what you can bring to the table (pun not intended) as a potential girlfriend or wife. Finally, is there any harm in getting better at cooking? Worst case scenario, you’ve set yourself up for success, and if a man doesn’t come running, you’ve at least got the skills to take better care of yourself. Do your future self a favor and learn the basics of nutrition, cooking, and baking so that you can feel your best and set yourself apart from all those other fish in the sea!
