Countless celebrities have expressed anger and frustration over the fact that Elon Musk has taken over Twitter, announcing their departure from the site. Musk originally offered to purchase Twitter for $44 billion in April 2022 but he nearly walked away from the deal when he learned how many Twitter users were bots or spam. However, he ended up closing the deal and walked into Twitter headquarters in October to take the helm. He has been extremely active on Twitter every day since, and he just dropped a bombshell about Twitter's involvement with election interference.

Elon Musk Says Twitter "Has Interfered in Elections" and Promises to Deliver a More Trustworthy Social Media Platform

Reuters shared an article on Twitter entitled "Twitter not safer under Elon Musk, says former head of trust and safety." The tweet had double the amount of comments than likes, and one person wrote the following: "Twitter has shown itself to be not safe for the past 10 years and has lost users’ trust. The past team of 'trust and safety' is a disgrace, so it doesn’t have any right to judge what is being done now. They had a chance, but they sold their souls to a corporation." This response has almost 11,000 likes. Musk responded to it and added his thoughts.

"Exactly. The obvious reality, as long-time users know, is that Twitter has failed in trust & safety for a very long time and has interfered in elections," he wrote. "Twitter 2.0 will be far more effective, transparent and even-handed."

There has been speculation for years that Twitter has interfered in political elections in some way, shape, or form, but it's nearly impossible to find evidence of this unless you are on the inside of the company. Fortunately, that's exactly where Musk is right now and he's exposing many weaknesses of Twitter that have been successfully hidden for years.

Kyle Becker, conservative commentator and independent journalist, responded to Musk and pointed out that mainstream media outlets like Reuters, Washington Post, and the New York Times are "really afraid" of "citizen journalists having a real forum to point out the left's obvious lies and propaganda on a daily basis."

Many people believe that Twitter played an important role in censoring things like Hunter Biden's laptop and its content in an attempt to paint the Biden family in a positive light. Polls showed later that voters said they would have voted differently if they had known about the content on the laptop and how it relates to the Biden family. In 2020, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey had to apologize in front of Congress for suppressing the verified reports of Hunter Biden and his involvement in politics.

Not to mention the vast amount of censoring and deplatforming that Twitter has done to many people on the right for years. It's absurd to even suggest that Twitter was a more trustworthy, safer place before Musk took over. Musk hasn't given anymore information as to what kind of election interference he is referring to, but we can probably expect that he'll offer some more details soon.
