Cardi B Responds To Postpartum Exercise Criticisms: "Y’all Dragged Me When I Gained Weight, Now You’re Acting Concerned?"
Cardi B is clapping back at her fans! The rapper is done with being criticized for gaining weight during pregnancy and for staying active after giving birth.

Cardi B will always defend herself, and her latest clapback is no exception. After sharing a new workout video on social media, the rapper faced a wave of comments lamenting the pressure of beauty standards on women – especially those in the public eye – to “snap back” soon after giving birth.
“It’s barely been a week. Yoh, the pressure women in the industry are under? Insane,” commented @BassieLastrassi on X (formerly Twitter) on a clip of Cardi B walking on a treadmill.
Cardi B, who welcomed her third baby in early September, didn’t let the comments slide without a response. She quote-tweeted @BassieLastrassi to set the record straight. “This is my third baby and postpartum is a little different from my first two,” the “Puntería” rapper explained. “I’m not doing heavy lifting, no muscle straining, squatting none of that… just cardio. Sometimes to avoid postpartum depression you gotta keep your mind busy and for me that’s work and staying active.”
She continued, “But you know what’s funny?? Y’all dragged me down when I gained 15 pounds because I was 5 months pregnant but now y’all fake concerned and wanna talk about pressure??? Y’all said I was pregnant to avoid working now that you see I’m still at it it’s something else?? So yeah I’m taking this personal but it’s FOR ME because either way y’all are gonna have something to say.”
True. No matter what Cardi B does, she will always receive ridiculous comments on her body. But I’m glad Cardi B responded – I think too many people have a bad habit of victimizing other women.
@BassieLastrassi later apologized and clarified that her comment was on society as a whole. “I genuinely didn’t mean any harm and the tweet was never an indictment on you but rather society’s expectations of women and ‘snap back’ culture,” she wrote. She’s right – even Rihanna in the past has spoken out about how her fans called her fat after giving birth. This toxic culture is alive and well; however, not every mom who is leading a healthy lifestyle means they’re doing so under pressure. “The reply to the OP honestly shows that there was no malicious intent. But I hope you and baby are well. I’m a big fan. ❤️”
In other news, Cardi B and Offset are going their separate ways, but they continue to embrace parenthood with the birth of their third child on September 7, 2024. The former couple shares a daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, 6, and a son, Wave Set Cephus, 3, along with their newborn.
Cardi B proudly shared a photo of her baby on Instagram after giving birth. She captioned it, "The prettiest lil thing 🌸🌸 9/7/24 💖💖💖."
