The promises birth control has made to women since May 9, 1960, when the FDA approved the very first hormonal contraceptive, are many and bold: Sexual liberation, the ability to choose how many children you have and when to have them, a fix to imbalanced hormones and PMS, and the ability to have sex without consequences.
