Amanda Bynes has been placed on psychiatric hold after the teen actress was spotted near
downtown LA this past Sunday walking around naked. TMZ was informed that Bynes was seen waving a car down and telling the driver she was "coming down from a psychotic episode." The 36-year-old reportedly called the cops on herself and was, luckily, found unharmed.

Officials state Bynes was taken to a local police station where mental health experts determined she needed to be placed on a 5150, a code that enables an individual with mental illness to be involuntarily held in a psychiatric facility for three days. This hold is only allowed under specific conditions. First, a person must be deemed a danger to themselves or others or be considered very disabled. Bynes's close source has informed TMZ that she's currently in the hospital to be placed under care. While a hold lasts only about 72 hours, it can be extended depending on the circumstances.

In 2022, a judge finally released Bynes from her 9-year-long conservatorship with her mother. According to NBC News, Bynes' parents were "happy, thrilled to get this good news" when the She's the Man star attempted to end her conservatorship. “The professionals say she is ready to make her own life choices and decisions and are so proud of her," they added.

Bynes uploaded a sweet video to her Instagram page to thank her fans for their support. "What's up, Instagram? Amanda Bynes here," she said in the clip. "My court date is coming up in two weeks. I want to thank you all so much for your love and support. Peace out."
