All The Details About Valentino's New Makeup Line
Valentino's first makeup collection will be available for pre-order on June 1, and here are all the details you need to know.

After years of bringing the most glamorous fashion looks down the haute couture and ready-to-wear runways, the luxury brand is stepping into a new, much-awaited direction with a line of cosmetics called Valentino Beauty.
The stunning collection is nothing short of glamorous with its red and gold packaging embossed with the classic V logo, consistent with the brand's signature color palette.
And even though they only recently announced their collection in April, word travels fast when it comes to something this huge in the beauty world, and we’re all eagerly waiting to see the full reveal scheduled for May 31 at Selfridges Department Store in London.

Although the entire line is yet to be revealed, they didn't leave us hanging, and we already have so many details that we are going to talk about in this article.
But first, let's take a look at the creative director behind the line, Pierpaolo Piccioli.
In creating Valentino's Beauty collection, Piccioli didn’t have one specific consumer group in mind, and the line is instead meant to be "open to all genders, ages, and cultures," according to a statement released by the Maison. This is why the designer opted for hiring 16 talents to represent the collection and showcase the many facets of Maison Valentino.
“Beauty is about grace. Grace is something that you cannot describe; it is a perception. Beauty is something that gives me emotion. It is a connection,” Piccioli says while noting that the collection explores a vision of beauty in total harmony with its time.
It's evident that there is so much love and detail that went into creating the collection, which makes it all more exciting, but for now, let's take a look at what we know so far.
All about the Eyes
It's obvious this is the season of the eyes, given that so many people are still choosing to wear masks, which is why the collection is packed with stunning pieces designed for unforgettable eye looks.
The star of the show is definitely the Eye Shadow Color Flip ($98), a double-decker palette with two layers of four shadows each, including two bases, four statement hues, and two glimmering topcoats.

For an extra addition of glitz, you can add a sheer coat of the Dreamdust Multi Reflective Eye Glitter that will bring a stunning sparkle to your eyelids in four different hues, including a gorgeous green and a petal pink.
You can also wing it by using the Twin Liner ($40), which is a dual-ended liquid eyeliner with a liquid end and a creamy gel end that will come in three different shades.
Lastly, you will be able to top your eye look off with a swipe or a few of the volumizing Magnificent Mascara ($32), which, judging by the short, voluminous brush, will definitely give you an admirable finish.

Your eyebrows certainly won't be left out with this collection, and you can get your arches in place with the Brow Trio ($40), a convenient slim tube that packs a sheer brow pen, a pencil, and a spoolie brush in one of three shades.
Foundation for Every Skin Tone

Valentino's foundation comes in a beautiful, luxurious glass packaging, and it’s a medium, buildable-coverage formula available in 40 shades.
The impressively extensive shade range was, according to the brand, a result of "extensive research on the skin tones of over 5,000 women from eight different countries, across every continent," with the aim to be comprehensive and inclusive.
The makeup line comes at a time when brands are under close watch over their choices with color ranges, so we’re very hopeful that Valentino will step up to the challenge. Still, 40 shades sound very promising, and although pricey ($64), I feel like the foundation will be worth it.
It also has an SPF of 25, which is a great add-on, and by the name "Perfecting," I have a feeling it's going to have a natural, velvety, and glowy finish rather than matte.
Cushion Highlighter To Get Your Glow On

Of course, if you think you need extra glow, you can top up the Perfecting Foundation with the beautiful cushion highlighter — V-Lighter ($58). It comes in gorgeous round packaging and contains hydrating ingredients, including hyaluronic acid that will help bring moisture into the skin and make it look plump and dewy.
Multitasking Buttery Blush

We've long known that blushes can also be used as matching eyeshadows; however, the Valentino collection took their blush to the next level of glowiness.
The Eye2Cheek ($58) buttery blush is a multitasking product that you can pop onto your cheeks and eyelids for a dewy, monochromatic look that will make you look like you are about to hop on the runway.
The compact comes with an adorable tiny blush to make reapplication throughout the day easy, and it seems like there will be five shades, but nothing is yet certain with this particular product, so we will have to wait and see.
Lipstick Array To Celebrate Mask-Off Season

And to finish off an entire look, you can choose from the 50-shade lipstick array of Rosso Valentino ($55), which spans classic Valentino reds, pinks, nudes, plums, corals, and even purples and oranges.
The lipsticks are going to be creamy and more liquidy but in a stick form. They will come in both velvety matte and satin with a liquid-like shiny finish, and they will most likely be very pigmented with a good one-swipe payoff.
Lastly, 15 out of the 50 lipsticks come in beautiful refillable casings, so you can easily replace your favorite lipstick for $30 instead of paying the full price for a new one. Hopefully, they will make all the shades refillable in the future.
A Luxury Accessory

Last but not least, another standout from the Valentino Beauty collection will be the "Go-Clutch," an accessory-makeup hybrid that houses a mini lipstick (which can be swapped out or replaced with refills) and a highlighter, a pressed powder, or a blush. This is surely going to be every influencer's favorite accessory, so get ready to see it all over social media.
However, this isn’t a completely new accessory as it first made its initial debut on the Valentino Spring 2017 runway.
It’s the cutest and most expensive piece in the collection sitting at "modest" $235, and it’s smaller than an iPhone.
Closing Thoughts
These are all the products that we know about so far, and while there are a few photos online, we have yet to see the eye palettes, the shades of a few products, and how they wear.
I’m super excited about the launch, and I will definitely buy something from the collection when it becomes available in August. But don't forget it's going to be available for preorder in the U.S. from June 1.
