Alec Baldwin Insists That The Only Reason He Is Being Sued For Halyna Hutchins' Death Is Because He Has "Deep Pockets"

Since her death, Alec Baldwin has been criticized heavily for his lack of trigger discipline and more importantly his refusal to take responsibility for such a devastating mistake that caused an innocent wife and mother to lose her life. His handling of the gun also injured Joel Souza, the director of Rust.

Alec Baldwin Says People Are Out to Get His Money

In a recent interview at the Boulder International Film Festival, Baldwin had a few things to say about Hutchins' untimely death and the aftermath. But these weren't words of remorse or regret; they were words of anger and blame. He claims that the people filing the lawsuits are only out for his money.

Hutchins' family filed a wrongful death suit in February against Baldwin and others "for the safety on set" and "reckless behavior." Mamie Mitchell, the script supervisor, is also suing Baldwin for assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and deliberate infliction of harm. Mitchell was the person who called 911 after Hutchins and Souza were shot.

“What you have is a certain group of litigants on whatever side, who their attitude is, well, the people who likely seem negligent have enough money. And the people who have money are not negligent, but we’re not gonna let that stop us from doing what we need to do in terms of litigation,” Baldwin said in the interview. “Why sue people if you’re not going to get money? That’s what you’re doing.”

He also said that the individuals who filed suits against him are merely targeting "deep pockets litigants," including himself.

Hutchins' husband, Matthew Hutchins, said in a previous interview about Baldwin, "Almost sounds like he was the victim. And hearing him blame Halyna in the interview and shift responsibility to others and seeing him cry about it, I just feel like, ‘Are we really supposed to feel bad about you, Mr. Baldwin?'”

Ever since this tragedy took place on set, Baldwin has been evading responsibility and pointing fingers. And of course nobody in Hollywood seems to be phased by the fact that he killed a woman on set. He is still invited on stage for interviews and is still welcomed with open arms by Hollywood elites. It's unimaginable to think of the pain Hutchins' family is going through, let alone the outright evasion of responsibility coming from the man who accidentally killed her.
