Hunger Games actor Woody Harrelson is facing backlash for his – what the media calls –
"anti-vax" rhetoric on SNL. This is not the first time the actor has come under fire for his views on the coronavirus scare. In 2022, Vanity Fair asked the actor what it was like working during the pandemic, and he revealed that he found the mask-wearing "absurd. " He said, "Mask and goggles, even a face shield. And I think it's not very conducive to good work. As one who doesn't believe in the germ theory, I find it rather absurd."

Despite Hollywood's incessant need to virtue signal about masks and vaccinations, Harrelson stayed firm in his beliefs on SNL, though he delivered his monologue as a "joke." The self-proclaimed "redneck hippie" talked about a movie script, which seemed to be a metaphor for the pandemic.

"The biggest drug cartels in the world get together and buy up all the media and all the politicians and force all the people in the world to stay locked in their homes, and people can only come out if they take the cartel’s drug – and keep taking them – over and over," Harrelson said. "I threw the script away. I mean, who was gonna believe that crazy idea?" he laughed.

Unsurprisingly, the 61-year-old's comments have caused a divide on social media. "What on earth was this antivax nonsense?" asks @nfbrennan.

"Who approved this," another user wrote.

The monologue has even caught the attention of Elon Musk himself, who wrote, "Good one" in the comment section.

In 2022, Harrelson discussed his views on the pandemic, germ theory, and Big Pharma. "The last people I would trust with my health is Big Pharma and big government, because neither one of those strike me as caring entities. They're all about profit," he told Bill Maher on the Club Random Podcast.

Harrelson later said, "Ivermectin got made into horse tranquilizer, or horse, whatever. It's used by millions and millions of humans. Hydroxychloroquine got made ridiculous. And there was only one thing that could work, and that's the vaccine, right? And, so ultimately, because of that, billions of dollars were made." He added, "It's obscene the profit they've made."

While many celebrities have sold their image to Pfizer to promote a vaccine that doesn't seem to be all that effective, Harrelson decided to tell people the truth about Big Pharma – or "drug cartels," as he calls them.
