One woman decided to share photos of a cyst in her underarm area that she allegedly received from her Dove spray deodorant. "I used dove spray on deodorant and it gave me this weird cyst. Thought it was maybe an ingrown hair but everyday it would just get bigger & more painful so I came to the ER and they literally had to cut it open or it would’ve eventually got in my blood stream?? I hate everyone," says @_Starsabreep. According to the user, she now has to take six different medications to treat her cyst.

Now, many women are coming out to share their similar experiences with Dove's products. "Wait… wait wait wait. This happened to me… i also use dove …" writes @valentinavoight, "I literally still have the scar from it."

"i literally have a little bump under my armpit that i just got and i thought i shaved wrong but it might be from switching to this [Dove]," adds @geniestarot.

"This happened to me too when I used to use this deodorant, I knew it was this product too because after I switched to a new brand I've never even remotely had something like this happen to me since," comments @heavenlyvicious.

Dove's Original Clean Dry Spray Antiperspirant contains many synthetic chemicals ranging from butane, BHT, benzoate, propane, and others. Their solid deodorants are, unfortunately, not much better. Just recently, Unilever – who owns Dove –  recalled their products that contained benzene, a known human carcinogen. Some of the products that were recalled include those from Nexxus, Suave, TRESemmé, and Dove.

Benzene interferes with proper cellular function, causing anemia, a loss of white blood cells, and tremors. Studies show that exposure to this chemical can increase the risk of some cancers by up to 40%. While benzene is not found in Dove's spray deodorant, the other ingredients found in their antiperspirants are endocrine disruptors that can lead to lumps and cancer. Additionally, unnatural antiperspirants can clog the pores in the armpits, causing a buildup that results in boils and cysts. The best way to avoid these side effects is to opt for a more natural deodorant that's free of aluminum and synthetic chemicals.
