In today’s world, everyone is looking for the quick fix, but what they really need is fitness. There’s no quick fix. The desired result comes from showing up for yourself daily, consistent hard work, a combination of proper exercises, and nutrition. Most supermodels hire the specific guidance of a fitness trainer, nutritionist, or even a chef to help them get into top shape.

The Victoria’s Secret model’s approach to training differentiates from men’s workouts as it’s more than just building muscle mass. The effective workouts are uniquely customized to their ideal body type for a functional transformation from the inside out. I know, because I've worked with them.

Men + Testosterone = A Different Way To Workout

Men have more testosterone than women, and most workouts designed for males are uniquely created for their body type. They love to lift, bulk up, and feel that increased blood flow pump for muscle mass. Men look for a broader chest, chiseled pecs and abs, popeye biceps, powerful forearms, strong-looking deltoids, and back. While men can reap benefits from the bulk and mass, the Angels benefit from toning their entire body to naturally create a long lean muscle while perfectly shaping their feminine curves.

Core conditioning improves posture, which contributes to an elongated and trimmer appearance.

To get in top shape, Victoria’s Secret supermodels train in a 3-dimensional plane of motion for an overall functional body. A series of lengthening, strengthening, and core conditioning exercises are incorporated into their workout routine to help their muscles look lean and strong.

Core conditioning improves posture, which contributes to an elongated and trimmer appearance. The lengthening workouts help the muscles look stretched rather than compressed. Strengthening exercises increase the overall quality of their movement. For the Angels to strut the runway with their massive customized wings in heels and lingerie, they must feel empowered, confident, and strong.

Utilize Both Aerobic and Anaerobic Exercise

The term “aerobic” means “with oxygen” and refers to moderate exercise sustained over a period of time. Your aerobic system gives you endurance which aids the heart, lungs, blood vessels, and aerobic muscles. With a proper diet and exercise, you burn fat as your primary fuel. Examples of aerobic exercises include swimming, biking, walking, dancing, running, kickboxing, and cycling. If you’re able to talk or sing, then you’re performing an aerobic workout. These exercises act as one of the secret components in shaping the bodies of Victoria’s Secret models.

Aerobic exercises can become anaerobic exercises if performed at a level of intensity that is too high. “Anaerobic,” on the other hand, means “without oxygen” and refers to exercises that produce short bursts of power. Anaerobic exercise burns glycogen as its primary fuel while causing the body to store fat. Examples of anaerobic exercise are jumping, plyometrics, sprinting, calisthenics, heavy weight lifting, or high-intensity interval training (HIIT). The secret to getting the best results is to have a workout that incorporates both.

Get Those Long Legs and Elongated Abs

Where do the Angels get their slender legs and elongated abs?

As a Victoria’s Secret supermodel, your aesthetic has to be on point in order to work consistently. Your goal is to become not just fit, but healthy in the physical ability to perform at your best during the catwalk and consistently scheduled photoshoots. Thus, organizing principles is the key factor.

One way to obtain slender legs and elongated abs is by adding a mat or reformer Pilates routine.

One way to obtain slender legs and elongated abs is by adding a mat or reformer Pilates routine, which includes exercises that promote core strength and stability, muscle control, and endurance. A mixture of stability exercises performed from the foot up must be incorporated to support and strengthen their ankles in order to strut the runway with 6-inch heels. Strengthening from the base of the foot and finishing off at the top of their crown creates an empowered, strong, and lean body.

Shape Your Powerful Feminine Curves

As the founder and certified fitness trainer of CreationFit, I’ve had the privilege to train many supermodels. I can attest that their workouts are completely different from men’s workouts. They include a range of feminine, full body-sculpting exercises focusing on integrated muscle systems, rather than isolated muscles, combined with powerful fat burning workouts. Some of the Angels favorite circuit training includes a combination of martial arts, boxing, free-flowing light weights, resistance bands, ankle weights, stability balls, sliders/gliding discs, the trampoline, and the hula hoop.

Closing Thoughts

Every body is different and every body is unique. Therefore what works for one person doesn’t necessarily mean that it will work for another. However, what I have found to be most beneficial to the supermodel’s workout routine is a 360 approach to nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle. The human body is designed to move. Consistently engaging in a training program that involves a full range of motion can help sculpt your body efficiently. The philosophy behind why Victoria’s Secret models don’t work out like men do lies in the approach to training. Now you can train like an Angel too.
