Abbie Herbert was a full-time model before she became a TikTok superstar. At only 17 years of age, Abbie moved to NYC to pursue her modeling dreams. She spent years of her career posing in front of the camera and working with many brands. But when the pandemic hit, she had to stay home and put modeling on hold. Like millions of other people during lockdowns, Abbie started to explore other creative avenues. She began making fun, lighthearted TikToks, and before she knew it, her fan base grew.

Abbie and her husband, Josh, welcomed their beautiful daughter, Poppy, in 2021. The trio created content surrounding their family life, and they garnered nearly 10 million followers in the span of just two years. Today, Abbie has 14.5 million followers on TikTok and counting, and is expecting another baby!

Motherhood has taught Abbie many things, and her daughter has become her world. “Motherhood has taught me to be more patient," she tells Evie. "My world revolves around Poppy and her time now. Even with all the demands of my career and the fast-paced nature of social media, I’ll always put her health and happiness first. Sometimes that means putting the phone down and just being present with her.”

Abbie Herbert's Agent Told Her She Couldn't Be a Model and a Mom

Though the social media celebrity's life seems picture-perfect, she's faced some criticism along the way. In 2018, Abbie’s desire was to be a mother and a model – however, her agent was anything but supportive of her dreams. "[In] 2018 modeling and my only dream was becoming a mom," Abbie opened up in her TikTok video. "[The] modeling agent said my career would be over once I got pregnant. I was diagnosed with PCOS and thought my dream was over. I started struggling with my body image and wondering if my dream would ever come."

Unlike other media giants who seemingly want to erase women, Evie Magazine was created with the intention of encouraging and showcasing the virtues of women – including the moms of the world. Evie wants nothing more than to spotlight, raise up, educate, and support girls, women, moms, and moms-to-be. So, in 2022, we invited Abbie and Poppy to model for our Limited Edition Print Issue that's all about a "Return to Nature." We were there for Abbie and supported her in her motherhood when others turned their backs.

In a video that garnered millions of views and over 500,000 likes, the model-turned-influencer shared gorgeous snapshots of herself that Evie photographed. "2022 modeling pregnant and a mom to a one year old," Abbie explained. Then, she added the wholesome cover of her and Poppy from Evie's print! "First cover with my daughter," she shared proudly.

The Power of a Mother

Social media and the entertainment industry seem to demonize pregnancy and motherhood, but we decided to do the opposite. Why? It's because we recognize the natural beauty that is inherent in all women. We embrace their nature, their superpowers. Society too often views motherhood as a burden, a freedom-restricting "social construct" that we need to move beyond. They couldn't be more wrong. Mothers are powerful; they create and bring life; they nurture, love, and protect. They are wise. Their power and influence over their own children and others are a force to be reckoned with, a potent energy that greedy media corporations want to suppress.

Abbie’s previous agent insinuated that the nature of pregnancy would not be deemed beautiful, fashionable, or suitable for photoshoots. This has been a false belief that’s spreading into the minds of young, impressionable women on social media. We decided to go against the grain to prove them wrong by giving Abbie and little Poppy the limelight. And, fortunately, millions of her followers and our readers agree with the fact that the natural woman and mothers deserve a place on magazine covers – and it’s time the rest of the world recognizes it too.
