It’s an unfortunate reality that celebrity couples don’t always work out. We’ve sadly witnessed more than just one marriage in Hollywood disintegrate in the span of a couple of years, whatever the reasons might have been. So, in an industry where ugly splits and messy divorces are regularly splashed across tabloids and social media platforms and picked apart in the court of public opinion (also known as X), it’s heartening to see relationships that do work out – couples whose commitment to one another isn’t up for debate, whose love only seems to grow deeper over the years.

There’s no doubt that these couples have each had their challenges and rough patches, as every couple does. But the point is that despite their difficulties, they’ve chosen to stay together and honor the commitment they made to one another when they said “I do” – whether it was one decade ago, or four decades ago. And that’s worth applauding.

So, without further adieu, here are 15 celebrity couples that we can’t help but love.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds tied the knot in 2012 after meeting on the set of Green Lantern two years prior. The pair share four children together, and there’s no doubt that they’re one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples. Fans love their shared sense of humor (their Instagram birthday posts are hilarious) and their obvious adoration of each other (they’re known for flirting over social media).

But they aren’t just fun together – they’re heartfelt, too. When Reynolds received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2016, he took the opportunity to express his love for Lively: “You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. … You make everything better, absolutely everything in my life. You’ve made me the father of my dreams when I thought I only had fun uncle potential.”

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski are easily one of the most adorable celebrity couples around. After being introduced by a mutual friend, the couple got married at Lake Como in 2010, and have since had two daughters. They also make for quite the filmmaking power couple, as evidenced by their collaboration on the A Quiet Place film series, with Krasinski directing the films and both of them starring in them.

“It sounds really sappy, but it’s true. I think it’s the greatest collaboration I’ve ever had in my career. I’d never seen her work, and when you are actually in the room, and she does what she does, honestly, it changes the air in the room. I was just completely and totally stunned by what she does.” Krasinski said of the collaboration.

Upon winning a SAG award for her role in A Quiet Place, Blunt dedicated her acceptance speech to her husband: “I am going to share this completely with my husband, John Krasinski, because the entire experience of doing this with you has completely pierced my heart. You are a stunning filmmaker. I am so lucky to be with you and to have done this film with you.”

This ‘90s It Couple makes an undeniably cute pair. After meeting on the classic horror teen flick I Know What You Did Last Summer in 1997, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. wed in 2002. “He is my first love,” Gellar said at the time. They’ve since had two children together, and over 20 years later, they are still going strong.

Prinze says he simply knew that Gellar was the girl for him in a 2020 People Now interview: “One day, I just knew we were gonna get married, and I knew I was gonna propose. I didn’t know when or how. And so I did, and fortunately, she was on the same page. My instincts were correct.”

As a married couple that’s remained so in love, they’ve received questions about how in the world they’ve stayed so dedicated. “Take the 10 minutes – put the phone down. Have a cup of coffee together. Walk the dog at the end of the night. Read a story with your kids. … Make the most of the time that you have. We are all pulled in so many directions, so make sure that, whichever one you are focusing on, you’re present,” Gellar told People.

Denzel Washington, widely recognized as one of the best leading men of our time, has been married to his wife since 1983 – how sweet is that? The couple met on the set of Wilma in 1977 and share four children, including actor John David Washington.

They might be 41 years into marriage, but they seem to be just as in love as ever. “I’m thankful, and I have been blessed beyond measure with the greatest woman in the world, who not only is a beautiful woman and a great wife, and I love her, great mother of our children, but she holds everything together,” Washington said of his wife in a 2023 episode of Tom Brady’s radio show, Let’s Go! With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jim Gray.

Cillian Murphy and Yvonne McGuinness

The Oppenheimer actor met his future wife at one of his former band’s shows in 1996. The pair are celebrating 20 years of marriage this year, having married in 2004. They have two sons and live a relatively private life in Ireland.

The actor has made a point of publicly praising his wife for having his back through his often hectic shooting schedule. “That work-life balance thing is hard. I have an amazing wife, and I couldn't do this without her and her understanding,” Cillian Murphy told GQ

More recently, Murphy and McGuinness appeared together at the Golden Globes. When Murphy won an award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, McGuinness quickly kissed him in celebration – leaving a smear of lipstick on his face. “First question: do I have lipstick all over my nose?” Murphy started his speech. “I’m just going to leave it.”

Adam Sandler and Jackie Sandler

The beloved actor and comedian Adam Sandler met Jackie in 1999 on the set of Big Daddy, in which she portrayed a waitress. They married in 2003 and have since had two daughters (both of whom starred in Sandler’s 2023 comedy, You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah).

In 2020, Sandler described their meeting as a love at first sight type of moment in a touching Instagram post for their anniversary: "22 years ago today we locked eyes and fell deep. Looking forward to the next 22, young lady. Love you my forever girl.”

When asked for the secret to their successful, long-lasting marriage, Sandler shared: “Jackie and I like spending time with each other. … We try to make each other laugh, try to listen, try to include each other, try to support each other. We try our best – that’s all. And we don’t ever think of not being together. We always talk about our future together.”

Pierce Brosnan and Keely Shaye Smith

The Irish James Bond actor first met Keely Shaye Smith, an American journalist, in 1994. They married in 2001 and have two sons together. Brosnan hasn’t been shy about expressing his love for his wife. “When Keely looks at me, I go weak. I love her vitality, her passion. She has this strength that I wouldn’t be able to live without,” he told Closer in 2018.

And perhaps even sweeter than that? Brosnan opted to honor his wife by wearing his real wedding ring during his performance in his recent film, Black Adam. “I decided to wear it for this character. It seemed appropriate,” he shared. Smith gushed about Brosnan’s sweet gesture in a red carpet interview: “I love those emblems, that he took those with him into the superpower, superhero realm.”

Ayesha Curry and Steph Curry

The Golden State Warriors basketball star first met Ayesha Curry when they were teens in a church youth group back in 2002, but they didn’t start dating until they reconnected in 2008 after they each had independently moved to Los Angeles. In 2011, the lovely couple got married at the church they’d first met at. They have three children.

In 2016, when Steph became the NBA’s first unanimous Most Valuable Player, he used his acceptance speech as an opportunity to praise his wife for her support: “None of this is possible without you. … You’ve given me the opportunity to go out here and work as hard as I do…all while holding down the house and doing the little things that keep our family going. … You’ve given our two daughters an example to look up to as they grow up. I don’t take that for granted at all.”

In 2021, for their 10 year anniversary, the couple renewed their vows, with Ayesha posting on Instagram that Steph had surprised her with the ceremony. “He even picked out my dress for me and had it waiting,” she wrote. The couple’s eldest daughter officiated the ceremony. We’re not crying — you are.

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem

The beautiful Oscar award-winning actress met fellow actor Javier Bardem on the set of Jamón jamón back in 1992, but their relationship didn’t turn romantic until years later, when the Spanish co-stars reunited on the set of Vicky Cristina Barcelona in 2007 and began dating. Then, in 2010, the pair secretly married in the Bahamas. They have two children together and have continued to collaborate on films together over the years.

The couple doesn’t often talk about each other publicly out of respect for their relationship. But any time they have spoken out, it’s been so sweet. “I’m happily married. I breathe and stay in peace. I truly thank whoever’s up there for giving me the opportunity to be loved,” Bardem stated in an interview with GQ.

Barbara Palvin and Dylan Sprouse

We couldn’t be happier for this Disney Channel alum. Dylan Sprouse began dating Barbara Palvin, a Hungarian model, back in 2018. They became engaged in 2022 and tied the knot in July 2023 in Hungary. And while they haven’t been married all that long, their love for one another is clear.

Barbara gushed to Vogue Australia in 2018 about her then-boyfriend: “It’s not normal for me to have a boyfriend. I was single for six years. … It did pay off, I feel like I found the perfect guy. He’s very kind and gentle. … That’s what I do on my day off: I spend it with the people I love, and I’m very much in love right now.”

And in an interview with E! News, Dylan revealed his favorite part about being married: “I really like the mornings, in general. … Mornings are really great, just because there is, like, a very calm and collected satisfaction of waking up next to your wife – which is a cool thing to say, by the way, like, ‘my wife.’ … But when you roll over, and you see your beautiful wife, and she’s asleep, and then you see your dog, and you’re in your house and the things that you like, created, it’s very calming, and it’s very nice, and it makes you want to work harder.”

In a particularly cute recent moment, Barbara showed her pride in her new married name, correcting photographers on the red carpet who referred to her as Ms. Palvin, saying: “It’s Mrs. Sprouse!”

Neal McDonough and Ruvé McDonough

The Yellowstone actor might be known for playing the villain on screen, but in real life, he’s a devoted, loving husband. Neal McDonough first met his wife, Ruvé, while on the set of Band of Brothers back in 2000. From that point on, their love has only grown deeper. The adorable couple got married in 2003 and have five children.

Over the years, McDonough has expressed his deep love for his wife, sharing: “I’m the luckiest guy I know to have her as my partner in everything after five kids and a great life.” Along with that, McDonough chooses to show loyalty to his wife by refusing to film intimate/kissing scenes with another woman: “They thought I was some religious zealot. But to me, it was just that I didn’t think it was the right thing to do, and also, I really love my wife. As I’ve said, and I’ll say it a million times, these lips are meant for one woman.”

Mads Mikkelsen and Hanne Jacobsen

The Danish Casino Royale actor started dating dancer and choreographer Hanne Jacobsen back in 1987, exchanged vows in 2000, and share two children. The couple likes their privacy, but their devotion to one another is obvious.

Despite his busy filming schedules, Mikkelson has made it a priority to stay present with his family, often inviting them to join him on location. “They join me on location if they have a chance, but I can also be home three or four months doing nothing, so I probably see my kids more than people who work constantly all year long. If that changes, we’ll have to have a family meeting,” he shared in a 2010 interview with The New York Times.

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood

The Grammy award-winning country singer and songwriter first met Trisha Yearwood in 1987, also a singer, but the two kept things professional for quite some time. Then, in 2005, the couple tied the knot.

During an appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show in 2021, Yearwood shared her thoughts on building a lasting marriage: “I think you got to treat it like a duet. … You got to harmonize, you got to make your partner feel like they’re a star. If not, you’re gonna turn into a solo act pretty damn quick, if you know what I mean.”

As for Brooks’ feelings about Yearwood, he expressed his affection for her in 2014 while on tour: “You’re looking at the luckiest, most blessed guy on the planet. … I’m madly in love with her, and I can’t stand to spend a day without her.”

LeBron James and Savannah James

The star basketball player is known as one of the greatest players in the sport’s history, but he’s also a devoted husband. LeBron said “I do” to his high school sweetheart, Savannah, in 2013. Together, they have three children.

After proposing to her in 2021, LeBron told Oprah: “I was like, ‘This is the lady and the woman I have been with through all the good and all the bad. She’s been there for a long time, and I wanted her to continue to be there with me,’ so I felt like at that moment it was time.”

Savannah has shown support for James over the years, most recently after he became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, sharing an Instagram post of the two, captioning it: “Such a momentous milestone you’ve achieved!! Words can’t express how proud I am of you and how grateful I am to have been apart of the journey. Congratulations my love!!”

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill

The country singer, record producer, songwriter, and actor first met fellow country singer Faith Hill in 1994. “From the first time we met, I knew (she didn’t!) that she was the love of my life forever.... no matter the ups and downs, the happy and sad or the good and bad. She’s so special and so loved by us,” McGraw wrote, recalling their first meeting in a 2018 Instagram caption. They married in 1996 and have three daughters.

The couple have certainly been through their share of tough times, but it seems to have made them all the stronger. McGraw credited Hill with helping him become sober in a 2021 Esquire essay: “I remember a moment when I was getting out of bed and going to the liquor cabinet and taking a big shot at 8 in the morning and thinking, I have to wake the kids up. I went straight to my wife and said, ‘This is where I’m at,’” he said. “I was scared. She just grabbed me and hugged me and changed my life.”
