The Queen Is "Under Medical Supervision" Amid Concerns For Her Health And Royal Family Members Are Traveling To Visit Her In Scotland

Queen Elizabeth II is 96 years old and although she easily fought off coronavirus earlier this year, her health seems to be deteriorating. She is currently staying at Balmoral Castle in Scotland and royal family members are traveling to see her.

She has had a few health issues over the last few years, but nothing has been too serious. In October 2021 she spent a night at a hospital and underwent "preliminary investigations." In May 2021 she sprained her back and had to miss the Remembrance Sunday service in London. Other than that, though, she has been in fairly good health as far as the public knows. But doctors are now becoming concerned with her condition and she has been placed under medical supervision.

The Queen Is "Under Medical Supervision" Amid Concerns for Her Health and Royal Family Members Are Traveling to Visit Her in Scotland

Buckingham Palace released a statement on Thursday announcing that the Queen is at Balmoral Castle in Scotland with doctors by her side.

"Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision," the Palace said in a statement. "The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

On Wednesday, the Queen was advised to postpone a meeting of the privy council and instead rest. But just on Tuesday, she made a public appearance at Balmoral and invited Prime Minister Truss. The Queen took photos and smiled at the cameras.

Politicians are announcing their concern over her health. "My thoughts are with Her Majesty the Queen and her family at this time, and I join everyone across the United Kingdom in hoping for her recovery," UK Opposition Leader Keir Starmer said.

"My thoughts — and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom — are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time," Prime Minister Liz Truss said.

Members of the royal family are now traveling to Scotland to be with the Queen. Prince Charles (the heir to the throne) and his wife are already at Balmoral and Princes William and Harry are traveling to Scotland as well. Princess Kate and Meghan Markle will not be accompanying them.
