Decorations, cozy weather, sweaters – all great aspects of the coming season. But the real reason we love fall? Pumpkin spice!

With the welcome return of the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte and a variety of other brands creating their own delicious fall items, your weekly trip to the grocery store just got significantly more exciting. Fall flavors like pumpkin spice, apple cinnamon, and butternut squash are perfect additions to your meal plan and pantry, but so many options can be intimidating at the same time.

The overall hype for pumpkin spice items may leave your shelves a little bare, and some items are especially difficult to find in the early fall months. Pumpkin spice coffee creamer and whipped cream are on my list of favorites, but my local stores have been out of them for a while. If you need your fix like I do, there are plenty of recipes online that you can make at home with just a few ingredients. This pumpkin spice cold foam is easy to make and absolutely delicious…and I dare say better than the Starbucks version!

Without further ado, here are some of the most iconic pumpkin spice flavored foods this year, and whether or not they’re worth the buy!

8. Chobani Pumpkin Spice Greek Yogurt

One of the worst flavors of Greek yogurt to date, the pumpkin spice flavor was strong, as was the sour taste of Greek yogurt, and the two flavors do not pair well together. I had high hopes for this pumpkin pick, but the love just isn’t there. I’m all for pumpkin spice, but maybe we stick to the sweeter flavors of fall instead!

7. Oreo Pumpkin Spice Cookies

Arguably better than the classic bright orange Halloween filling, the pumpkin spice Oreo cookies are alright. The pumpkin spice flavor is present, but tastes overwhelmingly artificial. There are much better options available on this list for fun fall snacks, and I’d only buy these again if there was nothing else available. Although, they would probably make a tasty crushed pie crust for a pumpkin pie!

6. Tate’s Bake Shop Pumpkin Spice Cookies

Deliciously crispy, these pumpkin spice cookies are the perfect autumn pumpkin color, with soft white chocolate morsels throughout. I loved them, but they don’t have the strong pumpkin spice flavor one would expect from a spiced cookie (or they would be ranked higher!). These are great with coffee, however, and would be a fun autumn treat for your less PSL-enthusiastic friend!

5. Birch Benders Pumpkin Spice Pancake Mix

This pancake mix is amazing! The pancakes are moist, flavorful, and make the whole place smell like fall. However, it’s expensive and can easily be made at home with just a few ingredients you probably already have on hand. This mix is great in a pinch, and only requires water to make deliciously fluffy pancakes (or waffles!) that taste like pumpkin spice. Highly recommended with whipped cream and roasted pecans!

4. Werther’s Pumpkin Spice Soft Caramels

If you love soft, gooey caramels, you will love the seasonal pumpkin spice flavor! These caramels would also add the perfect touch to a fall-themed charcuterie board, with their delicate gold wrapping and chewy texture. These would also be great in a hard candy form (maybe next year?). Notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger shine in these caramels, and once you have one, you’ll buy an extra bag for safekeeping!

3. Hostess Pumpkin Spice Twinkies

The classic Twinkie is not a personal favorite, but the pumpkin spice flavor was absolutely delicious. It features the same sweet yellow cake that Hostess is known for, but with the perfect fall twist. The cream is pumpkin spice flavored, with the perfect mix of fall spices and pumpkin flavor. I also appreciated that the color was not obnoxiously orange, but instead looked like pumpkin spiced cream filling. Pumpkin spice Twinkies will be one of my favorites for years to come!

2. Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte

It may be considered basic, but I don’t care. The PSL is just delicious, and it's iconic for a reason. Whether you splurge on one daily or brew the K-Cups at home, this iconic fall drink should be part of your routine this season (hot or iced)! A warm hug for an autumn-lovin’ girl, the PSL is spicy and sweet. Grab your favorite fall mug, and cozy up on the couch for Gilmore Girls and the perfect cup of coffee!

1. Tazo Pumpkin Spice Chai

And for this year’s winner… Tazo Pumpkin Spice Chai. Absolute perfection. As non-coffee drinkers and chai girls know, chai tea and chai lattes are a year-round indulgence. But a seasonal pumpkin spice chai flavor completely changes the game. It’s delicious steamed or iced, and with any choice of milk. Whether you opt for the tea bags or make a latte with the chai concentrate, you will fall in love!
