The Met Gala Theme For 2025 Has Been Revealed—Here's What We Know

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has officially announced the theme for the 2025 Met Gala. Set to take place on May 5, the highly-anticipated event will celebrate the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. What’s the Theme? The Costume Institute’s Spring 2025 exhibition will focus on the legacy of Black dandyism, inspired by “Inspired by Guest Curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity,” according to the MetMuseum . The exhibition will unpack how Black individuals have used clothing as a tool for self-expression, defiance, and reinvention. According to the Met, "The exhibition will tell the Black dandy’s story over time through a range of media, such as garments and accessories, drawings and prints, and paintings, photographs, film excerpts, and more." This year’s Met Gala boasts an impressive lineup: Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour will lead the charge, with LeBron James serving as an honorary chair. And because one committee simply isn’t enough for a theme this layered, a host committee is stepping in as well, including talents such as André 3000, Ayo Edebiri, Janelle Monáe, Dapper Dan, and Usher.
