The Thor: Love and Thunder teaser shows an introspective superhero that we aren't used to seeing from Thor. Chris Hemsworth appears with a dad bod, attempting to get himself back in fighting shape by using large chains as if they're battle ropes. The Guardians of the Galaxy characters make an appearance as well, promising an all-star cast to this next installment in the Marvel universe. But there's one big surprise in particular that you probably weren't expecting.

Natalie Portman Will Replace Chris Hemsworth as Thor

It seems as though Thor is trying to find himself – or at the very least, redefine himself. "'These hands were once used for battle, now they’re but humble tools for peace,” Thor says in the teaser. “I need to figure out exactly who I am."

"Just look into the eyes of the people that you love," Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) tells Thor when he's feeling unsure about his future.

The new Marvel movie seems jam-packed with adventure, humor, and heart, even if there are fewer battle scenes than what we're used to. Wait until the very end, though, and you'll see there's a new Thor in town. It's Natalie Portman's turn to hold the hammer. Natalie played Jane Foster in previous Thor movies, Thor's girlfriend from Earth, but this is the first time we've seen her wield Mjolnir.

Thor: Love and Thunder is in theaters on July 8. Watch the teaser below.
