Taylor Swift Cancels Eras Tour Shows In Austria Due To Islamic Terror Threats
Taylor Swift cancels three Eras Tour shows in Europe following threats of attacks by Islamic terrorists.

In a devastating attack that took place on June 29, 2024, a 17-year-old male attacked a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga class in Southport, U.K., leaving three young girls dead and several others critically injured. The media refuses to reveal his identity, but independent journalists report he's a Muslim immigrant from Rwanda who lived in Cardiff, Wales.
The grim news does not end there. In Vienna, Austria, fans of Swift's highly anticipated Eras Tour were met with disappointment as three sold-out concerts were canceled due to a thwarted terrorist plot. Austrian authorities revealed that two young men – inspired by extremist group ISIS – planned to launch a violent attack outside the Ernst Happel Stadium to target thousands of concertgoers. The suspects, aged 19 and 22, had prepared knives and homemade explosives, but their plans were foiled before they could harm any attendees, most of whom were young women.
The 19-year-old suspect has North Macedonian roots, according to Reuters. Austria's general director for public security, Franz Ruf, revealed in a conference the suspect "swore allegiance to the IS group's leader on the internet and had chemicals, machetes, and technical devices at his home in the town of Ternitz in preparation for an attack." The suspect had been radicalized online, authorities say.
"The suspect was planning a lethal assault among the estimated 20,000 'Swiftie' fans set to gather outside Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium, said national intelligence head Omar Haijawi-Pirchner. Two other Austrian youths aged 17 and 15 were detained on Wednesday over the reported plot," Reuters reports.
The abrupt cancellation has devastated tens of thousands of fans, many of them traveling across countries to see Swift.
Austrian Swift fans have found a unique way to celebrate Taylor Swift’s music despite the canceled concerts. Instead of the stadium, they gathered at a local church. Many also celebrated her songs on the streets of Vienna. “Thank you, lovely church in #Vienna, that played Taylor Swift songs the day of the first cancelled concert and gave lots of sad Swifties a place to gather,” wrote @kristihov on X, sharing a video of girls in safe hands, singing at a Catholic church. “Thanks to the police for keeping us all safe! #ViennaTStheErasTour.”
