Tatiana Maslany Believes Women Will Appreciate "The Musculature" Of 'She-Hulk' Because They're Tired Of Seeing "An Idealized Feminine Image"
The new Marvel show called "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" airs on August 18, and the star Tatiana Maslany has some strong opinions about her character. She insists that women will appreciate She-Hulk because they're tired of seeing the same kind of physique in female characters.

Tatiana Maslany rose to fame for her role in Orphan Black and her latest show She-Hulk is available for viewing on Disney+. In a recent interview with Elle, Tatiana talks about the feminine image we're used to seeing in TV shows and movies, and she believes that She-Hulk has something unique to offer women.

Tatiana's character, Jennifer Walters, is a single attorney in her 30s who also transforms into a 6-foot-7-inch She-Hulk in her spare time. The storyline sounds silly at best, but Tatiana believes there's a lot of good that can come from seeing her humongous, muscular character as the protagonist.
Tatiana addressed the criticism received about She-Hulk's body and the CGI used to create her figure. She says "it's such a chosen body" which "asks for commentary."
"There’s something interesting in everyone’s ownership over that image," she continued. "Obviously, I have no say over how she presents. But I do think we are thirsty for women’s bodies that don’t conform to an idealized feminine image. And that the musculature of She-Hulk could have been a really interesting, revolutionary thing to see.”
She ties She-Hulk's character back to bodily autonomy and bodily expression, saying that she's "supportive" of the idea that She-Hulk represents a refreshing take on the "feminine image." She also doesn't like the fact that everyone has an opinion on what She-Hulk looks like: "But I’m also like, ‘Okay, but why do we all have say in [her body]?’”
Tatiana stars alongside Mark Ruffalo, who plays the Hulk, Jameela Jamil, and Ginger Gonzaga.
