She starred in HBO shows The White Lotus and Euphoria, and she's set to star in the 2024 film Madame Web, but Sydney Sweeney is also known for her smart fashion choices and gorgeous photo shoots. However, her latest Instagram post has many people talking about whether she made the right decision. She wore a baby pink v-neck plunge dress with long, dramatic sleeves with a flower pattern. She was attempting to pose as a ballerina, drawing much criticism from dancers who were unhappy with the look of her feet.

Sydney Sweeney Did a Ballet Photo Shoot and Dancers Are Upset about Her Pointe Shoes

There's no doubt Sydney looks beautiful in the photo. Her makeup is minimal, with subtle cat eyeliner and a frosted pink lip. She's wearing matching colored tights with pointe shoes, while standing in a position that is supposed to mimic ballet. But her positioning is all wrong, as the comment section reveals.

"She looks gorgeous but i hate when people get dressed in pointe shoes for photoshoots and they aren't over their box," one person said.

"Shoulda done this without the pointe shoes πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ not a good look," another person commented.

"I love her but I am cringing so much as a ballerina πŸ₯²," someone said.

"When πŸ‘ will πŸ‘ the πŸ‘ modeling πŸ‘ industryπŸ‘ stopπŸ‘ putting πŸ‘ pointe shoes πŸ‘ on πŸ‘ people πŸ‘ who πŸ‘ can’t πŸ‘ wear πŸ‘ them πŸ‘ safelyπŸ‘," someone commented.

The phrase "over the box" refers to the positioning of the foot when the ballerina is positioning herself on the tip of her toes. The goal is to fully stretch and lengthen the toes and arch, but as you can see in the photo, Sydney isn't achieving that (which is completely understandable considering the fact that she's an actress, not a dancer).

Sydney wore the same outfit on the red carpet, only with different shoes and she looked stunning. But even though dancers commenting on the picture love Sydney, they feel it's necessary to point out that her positioning is all wrong, which is apparently offensive to some ballerinas.

The photo was shared to an Instagram account called @modelsdoingballet, which documents pictures of models and influencers who are attempting to pose as ballerinas, but utterly failing to get the form right. The caption read:

"WHAT DO U THINK?
A) NO
B) SHES ON THE BOX
C) THOSE HAMBURGER HANDS AND RIBBONS THO
D) I FEEL CONFLICTED
E) ELON MUSK RUINED TWITTER
F) ALL OF THE ABOVE"

They shared closeup photos of her feet and hands, highlighting how far off Sydney was from the correct form. Regardless of dancers' feedback, Sydney's photo garnered more than 1 million likes and thousands of comments, many of them supportive and complimentary.
