Sofia Richie Grainge Being Married And Pregnant At 25 Is Doing More For Traditional Values Than Anything The Right Is Doing

The same message has been hammered into women for the last decade: Marriage and motherhood are overrated. Hollywood, the media, and various celebrities and influencers keep telling us that being professionally successful is so much more exciting than anything a husband and family can give us.

At first, the messaging was subtle, but now it’s pretty blatant and in our face. It seems the tide is turning, though.

With the rise of influencers like Ballerina Farm and the death of the girlboss, thanks to Gen Z, it seems as though women are beginning to realize that there’s more to life than climbing the corporate ladder.

Sofia Richie Grainge, a 25-year-old celebrity who was first known as a socialite and the daughter of famous songwriter Lionel Richie, rebranded herself in early 2023, shortly before her extravagant wedding to Elliot Grainge. Sofia was previously famous for dating the likes of Scott Disick and Justin Bieber, and her sense of fashion was pretty standard for a young celebrity who was hanging around the Kardashians. But suddenly, in the spring of last year, she started posting GRWM videos on TikTok that showcased a completely new sense of style. Sofia suddenly looked elegant, classy, and timeless. Her outfits were clean and chic, with minimal patterns, and her makeup was muted and more natural. Fans were surprised by the transformation, but they were more intrigued than anything else. She gained millions of followers within weeks and generated huge hype for her wedding. People even started predicting that she would be the next It Girl. How right they were.

Her wedding was arguably the celebration of the century. For her rehearsal dinner preceding the wedding, Sofia donned an exquisite gown, a replica from Chanel's 1997 Fall Couture collection. The dress featured a mockneck and meticulous beading across the upper body, which gracefully diminished around the midsection. Its long, sheer sleeves complemented her elegantly simple bun. Speaking to Vogue, Sofia highlighted the gown's hand-beaded craftsmanship, which she felt encapsulated Karl Lagerfeld's legendary sense of elegance and femininity.

For the wedding ceremony, Sofia chose a Chanel-designed halter gown, distinguished by its intricately beaded train. Inspired by her lifelong dream of wearing Chanel, her initial fitting in Paris solidified her vision. The gown, adorned with lace embroidery, included meaningful details such as an embroidered heart and a hidden blue “S&E” near her heart, symbolizing her and Elliot's union.

Sofia's approach to makeup and bridesmaids' attire was simple yet sophisticated. She desired a look that would remain classic over time (which was the feel of the entire wedding), steering clear of overly glamorous styles. The bridesmaids were dressed in black, with Sofia encouraging their comfort through flexible dress choices within the black color scheme. The final Chanel outfit, worn for the night party, drew inspiration from Claudia Schiffer's iconic early '90s corset dress. This two-piece minidress was paired with a playful ponytail and white sequined high heels with a bow, encapsulating a chic, festive look for the celebratory evening. Millions of people tuned in to watch viral moments from the wedding, and women everywhere started to gush over Sofia’s “old money” look

Sofia Richie’s Wedding and Pregnancy Announcement Are Making Waves in the Culture

It doesn’t matter how much people deny it – celebrities and influencers have a huge impact on the culture and how we live our lives. And if you look around at the vast majority of celebrities, they’re known for dating around, delaying marriage and motherhood, getting married and divorced multiple times, and “co-parenting.” You even see a lot of celebrities who celebrate their abortion on a public stage and claim that they have reached fame and success because they ended the life of their unborn child. It’s rare to see celebrities get married young and start a family in their 20s.

So when the likes of a 25-year-old socialite gushes about marrying the love of her life and gets pregnant in less than a year of marriage, you can’t help but stop and stare. In an Instagram post (collaborated with Vogue), Sofia announced that she and Elliot are expecting a baby. “I’ve learned more in the past six months than I have in my entire life,” she said. In the photos, she is wearing simple, clean clothing, with her hair and makeup looking natural. Millions of people have liked the pictures, thousands have commented, and she is no doubt the name on everyone's lips right now.

“Our hearts are filled with so much love!” Sofia wrote in the caption of one of her photos. “So thankful for all of your support! Can’t wait for this next chapter of life.”

Seeing an "it girl" in her mid 20s express so much excitement and gratitude about becoming a mom is starkly different than what we’re used to seeing from celebrities. This is certainly contributing to a shift in the culture, where many women are beginning to realize that hookup culture and empty sex aren’t getting them anywhere in life. If Sofia can make marriage and pregnancy look this glamorous and fulfilling, millions of young women out there just might change their minds about finding a husband of their own and becoming a mom.

Sofia Richie Is Inspiring Traditional Values More Than Anyone on the Right

Conservatives talk until they’re blue in the face about the decline of marriage and the birth rate in the U.S. They constantly insist that young women should change their ways, give up casual sex, and submit to a husband so they can start a family. But these talking points have turned into a tired lecture. Combine all of this with the rise of the redpill/manosphere movement that constantly tells women they are hoes with high body counts who do nothing more than sell their bodies online and have no shot at redemption, even if they do want to change their ways and find a husband. Forgiveness means nothing if you have slept with multiple men, according to the redpill men.

Meanwhile, the rates of young women who are turning liberal are increasing rapidly while young men are turning more conservative. But most conservatives will claim that these statistics are simply due to the fact that women are “naturally” liberal and emotional voters who are too dumb to know what’s good for them. There’s zero self-awareness, and hardly anyone is willing to ask the pressing question: What is the right doing that is so repulsive to women? What is the right doing wrong in terms of reaching young women?

Then you take a look at some of the most popular conservative women who are podcast hosts, speakers, etc. in the space of right-wing media. They also tend to lecture women about their choices and demand that all women get married and stay home with their children, without working – yet these conservatives are career women who have a team of nannies who raise their children while they work every day to produce content, earn a living, and travel to speak at various events. At best, it’s disingenuous, but even more than that, there aren’t really many prominent women on the right who young girls aspire to.

It’s no wonder that the likes of Ballerina Farm have become so popular. Hannah Neeleman doesn’t ever stand up on her soap box and preach to young women that motherhood and marriage are the best choices. She simply lives a mesmerizing life and shows snippets of herself living a happy, fulfilling life – and millions of people cannot look away.

This is similar to what Sofia does. She has never, not once, preached to women that marriage is better than dating around, that becoming a mother at a young age is the best choice. She simply lives her life in such a beautiful, elegant way that women can’t look away. The same goes for her fashion. She doesn’t lecture women about dressing modestly and throwing away their trashy, revealing clothing. She simply set the trend by dressing fabulously and looking gorgeous by stripping back her makeup and allowing her natural beauty to shine through. This is what women respond to more than anything else: influence and beauty, rather than lecturing and shaming.

Closing Thoughts

The right sneers at celebrities in general, which is understandable because so many celebrities have become insufferably leftist, but conservatives have forgotten that celebrities and influencers will always have a huge impact on the culture and the younger generations. Rather than denying this and continuing to lose their grip on the culture, they should think about creating (and supporting) more figures like Ballerina Farm who can help convince women to live their lives differently.

Sofia is likely a liberal in many of her values. And yet, ironically, she is still doing more to instill traditional values like marriage and motherhood in the youth than most people on the right. Many will try to claim that’s only because she has exorbitant amounts of money. It’s not about her wealth, though. It’s about her influence. And if her wealth assists in her influence (like it does for Ballerina Farm), so be it. The more young women we see in happy marriages who are excited to become mothers, the better.
