Selena Gomez Hasn't Been Online for 4.5 Years

You've heard of many different people taking a social media hiatus for a while to clear their head and find some peace. But Selena has taken it to a whole new level. She hasn't been online in almost five years – and her life has improved drastically because of it.

“I haven’t been on the internet in 4 1/2 years,” Selena shared. “It has changed my life completely. I am happier, I am more present, I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal.”

Ever since she was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, Selena has taken some big steps to take care of her mental health, and that included staying offline for a long time.

"I understand how powerful the internet is, and in so many ways it’s done the best things for the world," she continued. "But for me, I get to my news that is actually important I get through people in my life." [sic]

She has also expanded recently on her passion for mental wellness by founding a media platform with a focus on mental health; it's called Wondermind, and the goal is to connect people to helpful educational resources while working to end the stigma around mental illnesses.

Taking a short break from the buzz of the internet sounds pretty good right about now.
