There are so many benefits to drinking celery juice, from detoxing, to fertility, to managing acne. It has an array of health benefits and is the perfect, low-calorie drink. I think we could all benefit from a home remedy once in a while. The American diet has become so full of processed foods that are not good for our bodies, but there is still hope for getting healthy. Here are 8 reasons to create a habit of drinking celery juice, even if the internet might have forgotten about it.

1. It’s Rich in Antioxidants and Nutrients

Antioxidants are substances that protect your cells against molecules that can harm the body and cause issues like heart disease, cancer, and premature skin aging. It’s important to include antioxidants in your diet since they contribute so much to your health. Celery juice contains fiber, potassium, vitamins C, A, K, folate, and many other nutrients. The calories are low, especially compared to other green juices. Drinking this every day is feeding your body consistently with different nutrients that support your health.

2. It Flushes out Toxins in the Body

Celery juice is a cleaning mechanism because it breaks down and rids the body of viruses, bacteria, toxic metals, pesticides, herbicides, and fungus. It’s a great way to detox the body, which is why it’s a popular detox drink. Also, if you’re suffering from constipation, celery juice is a natural option for relieving this issue.

3. Celery Has Anti-Inflammatory Properties

Anti-inflammatory diets are used for people who have auto-immune diseases, as well for those who are just trying to eat healthier. One of the benefits of celery juice is that it’s known to be anti-inflammatory. The Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine suggests that celery can prevent an array of issues such as jaundice, liver disease, urinary tract obstruction, gout, and rheumatic disorders.

Celery juice contains fiber, potassium, folate, and vitamins C, A, and K, and is low in calories.

4. It Supports Fertility

The things you put into your body, whether it be food or medication, can have an effect on your fertility and hormones. Celery contains a compound called apigenin, which in high concentration can induce effects on fertility. Medical Medium reports that celery juice can help restore cells and balance hormones. It hydrates the reproductive system and protects against toxins and pathogens in the body.

5. It Promotes Cardiovascular Health

Have high blood pressure that is affecting your cardiovascular health? Celery juice might be beneficial for you. Research shows that celery seed extract can improve blood pressure levels in patients with mild to moderate elevations. Cleveland Clinic states, “Celery contains a phytochemical called phthalides. As an extract, it’s called NBP, and it relaxes the tissues of the artery walls to increase blood flow and reduce blood pressure.”

6. It Supports Hydration

Celery is made up of about 95% of water. So celery juice, mixed with all of the antioxidants, is a great resource to prevent dehydration. Celery by itself is a great snack to help keep you hydrated throughout the day along with being nutritious.

7. It Can Help Manage Acne

Food and drink have more impact on your skin than you may realize. Acne can be caused by several factors, but your diet can be a contributing factor to the condition of your skin. The combination of being hydrating, anti-inflammatory, and containing nutrients all support healthy skin and reduce your chances of having inflammatory acne.

8. It May Help You Sleep

Many of us have difficulty sleeping at night. A good night’s rest is so important to your overall health. There is a compound in celery called 3-n-butylphthalide, which promotes better sleep. It might be worth a try if you’re looking for home remedies that benefit your sleep!
