Reese Witherspoon Shares The Best Piece Of Advice She Ever Got, And It's Simple But Life-Changing
Celebrities aren't exactly the first people that we turn to when we're in need of life advice, but every once in a while, an actor will surprise us with a poignant statement.

Reese Witherspoon, 46, has been acting for as long as we can remember. From Walk the Line to Legally Blonde to Big Little Lies, she has starred in some of the most memorable romcoms and dramas that have come out of Hollywood. As a mother of three, she has also been one of the more relatable actresses. She posted a short video on her Instagram today in which she shared a piece of advice that pretty much everyone can learn from.
Reese Witherspoon Shares the Best Advice She Was Ever Given
In a casual video, Reese sits down on her couch in a hoodie and pair of glasses to share a piece of advice that has always served her well.
"Somebody just asked me the best piece of advice for young people or anybody, honestly," she began. "Actually this is so crazy easy, and I say it to a lot of people, but it’s really surprising how hard it is."
"The sooner you figure out that other people’s opinions of you are none of your business and it literally doesn’t matter what they think of you, you become free. Totally free." And that was it.
So simple but so useful. As Reese says, this advice is most useful to young people because so many teenagers have a tough time making choices or feeling confident in themselves without being incredibly concerned about what their friends' opinions of them are. This can also be applied to adults: in a world where the mainstream opinion is the only one that's accepted, it can be difficult to speak out about something you believe strongly in for fear of being judged or ostracized. Reese points out that you become "totally free" when you realize that it doesn't matter if people don't approve of who you are and what you think. It's a gem of advice that we can all take to heart.
