Years after Patrick Dempsey took on his dreamy doctor role in Grey's Anatomy, the 57 year old is finally getting recognized as 2023's "Sexiest Man Alive."

“I’m glad it’s happening at this point in my life,” he told the magazine. “It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive.”

The actor opened up about Dempsey Center, which he founded in honor of his mother and to support cancer patients and their families. He also discussed being a family man (that makes him even hotter) to his beloved wife, Jillian, and their kids Talula, Sullivan, and Darby.

Apparently, Dempsey couldn't believe the announcement. “I was completely shocked, and then I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? I’ve always been the bridesmaid!” he joked. "I'd completely forgotten about it and never even contemplated being in this position. So my ego is good.”

How is the internet reacting to this news? Well, it seems like the audience is split over it. "Mcdreamy father era," wrote @keybrackson. His other fans on X proudly shared the announcement on the platform.

@KenjisTrauma commented, "He's handsome I'll give him that.

"sexiest man alive of 1923 maybe…" joked @bloodlineprint. Come on, he's not that old!

One X user asked, "who is picking these men?"

The younger generations just love to make fun of older people, that's all. Dempsey is still incredibly handsome for his age, although I would love to see some younger men win this accolade too. I think it would also be interesting if non-A-listers got a chance at the title.

Dempsey's kids are probably going to pick on him, as he insists they're “just going to make fun of me and pick on me and figure out every reason why I shouldn’t be,” he added. “Which is good, they keep me young.”

Still, the Ferrari star is incredibly proud of his new win. “I’ve got the bumper stickers, T-shirts, posters,” he revealed about his new title.

“I peaked many years ago,” he said, laughing. “But I’m still here.”
