OB-GYN Says COVID Shots “Mirrored” Chemical Abortion Drugs
Dr. James Thorp says the effects of Covid-19 shots on pregnant women resembled what you'd expect from chemical abortion drugs and that the government knew it.
Thorp is a board-certified OB-GYN and maternal-fetal medicine specialist who has worked in high-risk obstetrics for over 40 years. According to his website, he is "one of the few Ob-Gyns to bear witness and broadcast the multitude of pregnancy complications and tragedy resulting from the Covid-19 jabs."
Thorp recently spoke out about his findings at the Hearing on Covid-19 Vaccine Adverse Events this week. “This figure mirrors the effects of chemical abort drugs,” he said, referring to findings of an 82% miscarriage rate among women vaccinated in the first trimester.
The Shimabukuro Study: What the Numbers Actually Showed
The number comes from the Shimabukuro study, published April 21, 2021 in The New England Journal of Medicine. The study initially reported a 12.6% miscarriage rate among vaccinated women. However, Thorp says that number only holds if you include women who received the vaccine later in pregnancy. When you isolate the group vaccinated in the first trimester – the highest-risk window – “the raw data revealed an 82 percent miscarriage rate,” he said.
“This deception was institutionalized in the now infamous Shema Bakura study published on April 21, 2021, in the digital version of the New England Journal of Medicine. 21 authors claim the miscarriage rate was 12.6 percent, but the raw data revealed an 82 percent miscarriage rate, and women vaccinated during the first trimester. This figure mirrors the effects of chemical abortion drugs such as RU-486,” Thorp said.
He also pointed out that, “in the same journal edition, on the same day an op-ed appeared by CDC director Rachelle Walensky and journal editor-in-chief Eric Rubin.” According to Thorp, “these publications were riddled with conflicts of interest and deliberate misrepresentations intended to coerce pregnant women into taking vaccines.”
The conflicts go beyond that one study. “Subsequent studies have also claimed that COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective during pregnancy and have been rebuked by respected researchers,” he said. “These publications are fundamentally compromised by serious conflicts of interest ranging from bias funding sources and institutional mandates and even threats to their medical licenses and board certifications.”
Between 2020 and 2022, pharmaceutical companies paid $1.06 billion to reviewers at leading medical journals, The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, The Lancet, and BMJ, corrupting the peer review process, he says.
Thorp claims multiple internal studies, including from the CDC, FDA, and Pfizer, revealed clear safety signals that were ignored. “Conversely, countless independent researchers with no conflicts of interest published findings that contradicted the false narratives and the pharmaceutical industry narratives only to be rewarded by persecution, censorship, and threats to their medical licenses and board certifications,” he said. “This is not hypothetical. It happened to me.”
37 Documented Adverse Outcomes
On February 8, 2025, Thorp and his team published a peer-reviewed study in Science, Public Health Policy, and the Law. “We identified 37 adverse pregnancy outcomes significantly associated with COVID-19 vaccine, including miscarriage, stillbirth, birth defects, cervical insufficiency, premature rupture membranes, preterm birth, and death of the newborn,” he said.
He cited additional work by Lynn and colleagues, who “documented that the Covid-19 vaccine traverses the placenta, enters the fetal blood, and bioactively produces spike protein in the placenta and the lining of the uterus.”
It’s not just observational studies. “Recently, animal studies revealed the mRNA Covid vaccine causes the destruction of 60% of the ovarian reserve in rats,” Thorp added.
He also criticized leading medical organizations, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG), and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM). “These organizations have abandoned their ethics and responsibilities to physicians and patients and must be held accountable,” he said.
Thorp ended his statement with a demand, “I urge the government to immediately halt all funding to these entities and to end every promotional campaign that coerces or recommends experimental mRNA therapies to pregnant women. This will stop now.”
In a separate peer-reviewed 2022 study using VAERS data, Thorp and colleagues compared adverse events in women of reproductive age after Covid-19 vaccines versus influenza vaccines. Adverse events reported after the COVID-19 vaccine, especially those related to pregnancy, were at least twice as common as those reported after the flu shot. These included everything from menstrual irregularities and miscarriage to birth defects, stillbirth, preeclampsia, and premature delivery.
Thorp concluded that the inclusion of these findings in formal reviews “would correct a Type II error and lead to a conclusion of excess harm, necessitating a worldwide moratorium on the use of Covid-19 vaccines in pregnancy.” The evidence demands action, and unless federal agencies and medical organizations are held accountable, the consequences will only continue.
