If you're on social media, you've undoubtedly heard about Nara Smith, the young mom-of-three married to male model Lucky Blue Smith. Nara has gained millions of followers with her tasty recipe videos (she makes everything from scratch!) and content about motherhood and her struggles with eczema. She's also famous for giving her children creative names: Their daughter is named Rumble Honey, while their son is named Slim Easy.

Now, they have a new addition to their family.

Nara gave birth to Whimsy Lou last week, and she shared a sweet video of her newborn on Instagram and TikTok. "our little angel has arrived!" she wrote in the caption. "Meet Whimsy Lou Smith."

Nara Smith’s Birth Story

Nara's pregnancy wasn't always smooth sailing. The model and influencer said that two weeks before Whimsy's arrival, she was in prodromal labor, which starts and stops before fully active labor begins. Nara would have contractions every night for a few hours, only to wake up feeling defeated. "I'd wake up feeling defeated and sad," she wrote in the caption. "My body would ache and feel too exhausted to function right. For the next week we tried all the natural ways to induce labour. I was already very dilated and baby’s head was very low so I was sure one of the things would work but she just wasn’t ready yet. I started slowed down, took time to unwind and surrender to what Gods plan was." [sic]

Nara was overwhelmed with emotions when she went on an evening walk with her family. She felt that Whimsy was coming. On April 7, "Once the sun started descending, we took our two little ones on our routine evening walk, and something shifted," explained Nara. "When I glanced at them I caught glimpses of what had been but also of what was to come. Suddenly I got emotional knowing that our love would expand to welcome another spirit and things would be changing again. When realization hit, it was like a switch flipped, and I started contracting. We cut our walk short and headed back home since my legs wouldn’t carry me for much longer."

But at 11:31 PM that night, Nara's contractions tapered off again. "I felt like I had read my body's signs wrong again," she recalled.

"We finally made it to bed at 1:30am, and after saying a prayer, I cradled my belly and let my tiredness wash over me," she continued. "Somewhere between sleep and consciousness, I felt the strongest contraction so far. I started waking only to be pulled back in by another contraction a couple minutes later. After 10 minutes of continuous contractions, I started to shout in pain, which woke up my husband, who had fallen asleep next to me. I knew that active labour had started. In between contractions, I kept needing to go to the bathroom, which made the pain almost unbearable."

Nara remembers yelling at Lucky to call the midwife when she was on all fours, leaning on their bed – but she realized that they weren't going to make it in time. "I realized that our midwife's wouldn't make it in time, and I had to trust my body to guide her into this world," she wrote in the comment section. [sic]

The model was in full surrender mode at this point. "The only thing that I remember more clearly was Lucky's voice saying a prayer and feeling at peace knowing that it would all work out the way it was meant to be. When I felt her head descending, I let my body do what it was telling me to, and Lucky made sure to cradle her head while her body followed," she added. "As if a veil had been lifted, I heard him talking to her, telling me she's here and placing her on my chest."

Nara looked over at the clock. It had only been seven minutes from the moment she felt Whimsy was coming to her laying on her chest. Then, the midwife came. Everything worked out just the way they thought it would. Nara concluded, "When I heard the birds starting to chirp outside our window, we drifted off with our newest addition to our family, little Whimsy Lou."
