She told Alex Cooper she wasn't one. Now she's talking about acting, writing, and life beyond the kitchen. To some observers, this amounts to a suspicious change of direction. But before we investigate the supposed rebrand, we should establish who did the branding. Nara never needed to announce herself as a tradwife for people to appoint her the face of the movement. That doesn't establish when the word was invented, but it puts the disbelief about Nara's unfamiliarity into perspective. Hannah's history with the label is equally inconvenient for the rebrand narrative. PEOPLE reported in 2024 that she had told The New York Times she didn't really know the term. There is a great deal that a photograph cannot tell you about a marriage or a mother's day. Viewers can see a beautiful outfit and imagine leisure. Meanwhile, the woman in the photograph is coordinating a hospital departure and returning to work, carrying concerns for her sick child. The woman who enjoys making dinner may also have a novel in her, or a talent for acting that she wants to develop. None of those pursuits cancels out the others.
