Nara Smith Reveals Her Daughter Has Cancer: “There’s No Easy Way to Say This”
For months, fans noticed that Nara Smith had been posting less often than usual. The influencer shared the heartbreaking reason why.

In an emotional video, Smith revealed that her 2-year-old daughter, Whimsy, was diagnosed with cancer late last year after what first seemed like a concerning symptom led to an emergency room visit.
"There's no easy way to say this or to talk about any of this," Smith began. "But late last year, our daughter Whimsy got diagnosed with cancer."
She explained that she and her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, first took their daughter to the ER after noticing something unusual. Doctors there weren't immediately sure what they were looking at, so they were advised to follow up with their pediatrician.
"When we took her into our pediatrician, I just remember him going really quiet and calm, and my heart dropped in that moment," she recalled. "I don't know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mom's intuition, but the first thing that I felt was she has cancer."
The pediatrician urged them to head to the nearest children's hospital for more testing.
"So Lucky got in the car, took her there, and after a lot of x-rays, ultrasounds, and finally a biopsy, they immediately called us and said that she had cancer, told us it had spread and that she needs to come and start chemo treatments immediately."
The diagnosis turned their family's life upside down almost overnight. While caring for Whimsy through chemotherapy, Smith was also navigating the demands of postpartum recovery, raising her other children, and continuing to work.
"A lot of you have probably realized that I've been posting a little less, and this is the reason why," she said. "Having found all of this out and navigating this while postpartum, also loving and caring for our other kids at home, also being in the hospital with Whimsy a lot and balancing work on top of that has been really challenging, and finding that balance is something that I struggle with on a daily basis."
"Some days are a little easier, some days are really hard, and all I can do is try my best and show up in all those areas in the best way that I can," Smith continued.
Smith said that throughout her daughter's treatment, she found comfort in reading other families' stories online and connecting with parents she met at the hospital. "Throughout all of this, I've been on a plethora of forums, social media, also talked to parents and family in the hospital, and all of that combined really brought me a lot of comfort and alleviated the feeling of loneliness for me."
We wanted to share this to hopefully bring someone else that comfort.
That experience is part of why she decided to speak publicly now. "We wanted to share this to hopefully bring someone else that comfort or even incentivize you to go get something checked out that you've been avoiding."
She ended her message with another reminder that no one has to face difficult moments alone: "I hope that by sharing this I can bring someone else a little bit of comfort and make you feel less alone in your journey in whatever way that may be."
The news has prompted an outpouring of support from fans, many of whom have followed Smith's family for years. It has also served as a reminder that social media only shows a fraction of someone's life. While people speculated about why she had been posting less and continued to criticize everything from her content to her parenting, very few knew that she was spending countless hours in hospitals while helping her two-year-old fight cancer.
It's hard not to think about all the criticism Nara has faced over the past year. While people were making assumptions about her life from a few videos online, she was living through every parent's worst nightmare. You never really know what someone is going through. We're sending Nara, Lucky, Whimsy, and their entire family love, strength, and prayers as they continue this fight.
