Miley Cyrus was on her way to Paraguay yesterday for a music festival called Asunciónico when her plane was struck by lightning.
Luckily, she and everyone she was traveling with was safe after the incident, but they had to make an emergency landing and were thus unable to actually make it to Paraguay for her performance.
Miley Cyrus Shared a Frightening Video of the Lightning Strike
Cyrus' arrival into Paraguay was highly anticipated by the locals and it was expected that a large crowd would welcome her at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport. Unfortunately, due to weather concerns, Asunciónico had to cancel parts of their show and reschedule the performance lineup yesterday. Doja Cat, Foo Fighters, and Machine Gun Kelly were among the artists who were unable to perform.
In an Instagram post, Cyrus shared a brief video of the lightning that struck the wing of her plane. "To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción," she wrote in the caption. "Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lighting. My crew , band , friends and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing. We were unfortunately unable to fly into Paraguay. 💔 I LOVE YOU."
She also shared a picture of the damage on the wing of the plane. Thankfully she and everyone on board were unharmed by the incident.
Guests are still waiting to hear from the festival to see if Wednesday's performances will go on as scheduled without Cyrus.
