Meghan Markle Is Sued By Her Sister For Claiming That She "Grew Up An Only Child" In Her Oprah Interview

Meghan Markle, also known as the Duchess of Sussex, has become a household name ever since she married Prince Harry of the British royal family. The couple's viral interview with Oprah in March 2021 is under scrutiny because Meghan claimed that she was an only child. Her sister begs to differ.

Meghan is one of those public figures who is either intensely hated or loved. She's under fire again in the headlines this week because of something she said in her interview with Oprah last year. She claimed that she "grew up an only child," but her half-sister is coming forward to highlight this complete lie and bring a lawsuit against Meghan.

Meghan Markle Is Sued by Her Sister for Claiming That She "Grew Up an Only Child"

Meghan has two half-siblings, and one of them is suing Meghan for allegedly promoting a fake "rags to riches" story and lying about her family along the way, both in the Oprah interview and in the biography of Meghan and Harry called Finding Freedom (which was written by Meghan's close friend Omid Scobie).

Attorneys working for Meghan have responded to this claim insisting that her claim of growing up as an only child was "subjective" and referred to her feelings rather than the facts.

"It is hard to imagine a more personal and subjective feeling than how one views their own childhood," Meghan's attorneys wrote in a round of documents. "Moreover, Plaintiff's opposition completely ignores the context of the statement, where Ms. Winfrey asked Meghan about her 'relationship' with Plaintiff."

"Meghan's response to that question that she 'grew up as an only child' was obviously not meant to be a statement of objective fact that she had no genetic siblings or half-siblings."

They insist that Meghan's statements about being an only child are "a textbook example of a subjective statement about how a person feels about her childhood."

Meghan's sister also says that the Duchess was lying when she said she "essentially raised herself from virtual poverty" and had to take low-paying jobs at the age of 13 to "make ends meet."

In regard to the statements made in Finding Freedom that Meghan's sister claims are false, Meghan's attorneys maintain that they weren't Meghan's words so she isn't at all liable for them.

It's said that the half-sisters haven't seen each other since 2008, similar to how Meghan is estranged from their father. Meghan's legal team has not responded to DailyMail.com for comment.
