When asked about her stance on abortion, President Trump’s oldest daughter and senior White House advisor said, “I respect all sides of a very personal and sensitive discussion, but I am also a mother of three children, and parenthood affected me in a profound way in terms of how I think about these things.”

She continued, “I am pro-life, and unapologetically so.”

In follow-up comments, a White House aide clarified that Ivanka’s answer was “both a personal conviction and a reflection of how far Democrats have shifted left on abortion.” The aide explained, “A huge driving part of that is where the Democratic Party has gone.”

“I am pro-life, and unapologetically so.”

Some have questioned how Ivanka’s pro-life stance jives with her “self-styled image as an empowerer of women.” Forbes writes, “Being anti-abortion also appears at odds with Ivanka Trump’s own efforts to empower women around the world, most notably her Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative, with experts agreeing that one of the most important factors in allowing women to thrive is the ability to control how many children they have and when.”

What these voices are ignoring is that there are other options besides abortion for family planning, such as the all-natural, no side-effects, effective, and completely free fertility awareness methods. They also ignore that a woman can succeed both personally and professionally with children, as our new Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett proves.

True women’s empowerment should encompass both teaching women about their fertility and telling women that they’re capable of thriving with children.
