Gwen Stefani Says God Is The Secret To Her Happy Marriage
In a recent appearance on "The Drew Barrymore Show," Stefani offered a glimpse into the spiritual foundation of her relationship with husband Blake Shelton.

From her ska-punk days with No Doubt to her glittering solo career, perhaps Gwen Stefani's most beautiful transformation has been in her personal life, where faith has become the quiet force guiding her marriage to country star Blake Shelton.
In a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Stefani offered a glimpse into the spiritual foundation of her relationship. When asked about the best advice she’s ever received about love, she replied: “Best advice would probably be, make sure you have a third party,” gesturing upward to indicate God.
“We both have such strong faith,” she shared. “We believe in God, and I think if you have that, then you have everything.” And then she really got candid: “You have to be able to forgive and move forward. God always has to be number one. We believe in that. That’s our secret. That’s the way we live.”
“It’s literally a miracle,” she said, reflecting on how their paths crossed. “People don’t get it. Like, I had no idea who he was before I met him.”
Two stars from wildly different worlds. She’s the platinum-haired ska-pop icon from Orange County; he’s the Oklahoma-born country singer, yet their relationship has always had an air of divine timing.
When they met as coaches on The Voice in 2014, both were recovering from highly publicized divorces. “I wasn't trying to start a relationship, I was just trying to not die,” Gwen once confessed, highlighting the depth of her despair at the time.
“I didn’t see any of this coming with Blake,” Gwen once said. “This was just a big ‘What?’ It was an amazing gift to experience love like that for the first time.” Blake has often credited Gwen with saving his life, too.
They married in 2021 at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch in a ceremony officiated by The Voice host Carson Daly. Daly, a longtime friend and fellow Christian, shared at the time that the couple wanted God to be at the center of their union from the very start.
Raised in a devout Catholic household, Gwen's faith has always been a cornerstone of her life. Before marrying Blake, she even sought and received a marriage annulment from the Catholic Church, emphasizing her commitment to aligning her personal life with her spiritual beliefs.
Blake, too, has spoken about how Gwen's unwavering belief in God has inspired him to see "the God in everything," influencing not just his personal life but his music as well.
Despite their celebrity status, Gwen and Blake's life together is refreshingly grounded. They cherish quiet evenings at home, long walks, and early bedtimes. Gwen paints a cozy picture: “I’m literally like—couch, blanket, cookies, chips,” she shared, describing their ideal date night.
Their story is a rare blend of star power and spiritual depth and proof that even in Hollywood, it's possible to build something sacred and enduring when two people make God the center of their lives.
