I was watching over my five-year-old nephew when he suddenly announced, "LiLi, watch me!" He then tore around the living room for a solid half hour, leaping over imaginary obstacles to the "Mission: Impossible" theme song blasting from an iPad over and over. I got tired just watching him.

The pure, unfiltered energy of a little boy is something to behold: joyful, physical, and relentless. But as I sat there catching my breath on the couch, a quieter concern settled in. My nephew starts school this fall. He's about to enter an education system that, in many ways, is not built with his energy in mind.
