If anyone knows about supermodel style, it’s Gisele Bündchen. And seeing as she’s the woman who single-handedly started the bronde trend, she knows a thing or two about hair. Luckily, we’ve got all the tips you need to replicate her look.
Gisele Bündchen is without a doubt one of the most famous supermodels of all time. In fact, she was the first model to be able to successfully do both runway and commercial work. While becoming a VS Angel is a no-brainer for many models today, when she first took the contract her agent warned her that she might never be able to do a magazine cover or the high fashion runways since the designers looked down on catalog models.
Gisele also has one of the sweetest celebrity marriages to husband Tom Brady. They recently celebrated his latest Super Bowl win alongside their kids Jack, Vivian, and Benjamin.
When she isn’t busy with all her duties as a wife, mother, and model she loves to spend time doing yoga. She makes sure to wake up at 5:30am every morning to meditate. She started meditating to help calm her panic attacks in her 20s, and it became a lifelong practice for her. And when she’s not doing yoga, she surfs, hikes, and does cardio. Her dedication to a healthy lifestyle is super admirable.
As if that weren’t enough for a list of accomplishments, she even wrote her own book, Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life.
Keep It Casual
When she’s not on set or on a red carpet, Gisele’s style is pretty casual. The whole idea of the supermodel style is looking chic, but not like you tried too hard, which Gisele nails perfectly. A white t-shirt and jeans is a basic outfit, but don’t overlook it. It’s a classic for a reason.
Her day-to-day style really revolves around that principle. Lots of basic t-shirts paired with jeans and you’ll be good to go.
An All-Black Ensemble
Even a supermodel needs a black dress! A black dress is a classic that has people looking at you rather than what you’re wearing, which is really the goal in the end. It’s perfect for going on Jimmy Fallon, but it’s just as great for going out to dinner with friends, your husband, or your boyfriend.
And you can apply the same principle to more casual looks. A black top, jeans, and ankle boots are a great look. Or up the ante like Gisele and add a jacket and switch out the jeans for leather pants.
Leather Is a Staple
The great thing about leather is that it can either dress up or down a look. Leather pants let Gisele get away with wearing a sweater on the Tonight Show. But paired with a dress, a leather jacket can help you make an outfit more casual. It’s the perfect item to have in your closet to help you dress for the occasion!
White Shirts Are a Girl’s Best Friend
You’ve heard me say it before, and I’ll say it again. Every woman needs to have a white button-down in her wardrobe. Do yourself a favor and invest in a non-iron one so you don’t have to worry about wrinkles. Whether you dress it up with other basics to create a great outfit or use it as a beach cover-up, it’s sure to come in handy.
And of course, a second to the white button-down is the blue button-down. It’s an easy outfit with the laidback feel of a t-shirt, but will make you look a million times more put together. And the only added effort required is the buttons! Now that’s a hack I can get behind.
No, I’m not talking about pairing designer clothes with less expensive items. One great way to create an outfit is to pair more casual and more dressy items together. Jeans, a t-shirt, and a hoodie are really casual on their own but by throwing on a blazer over her outfit Gisele looks more put together instantly.
And with how active she is, you can bet that like many supermodels Gisele is often seen in exercise clothes. But her looks tend to be much more low-key than other models like Gigi Hadid or Kendall Jenner who often favor bold styles. She sticks to basic leggings, tank tops, shirts, and sports bras most of the time. No need to go crazy with your workout looks!
Flowy Skirts and Boho Dresses
If you want to recreate her laidback style, make sure you have bohemian flowy dresses and skirts at the ready. They’re super flowy and comfortable but will make you look way more put together than if you just wore a t-shirt and jeans.
Another casual look you’ll see Gisele in a lot (especially when she and Brady were still living in Boston) is the puffer jacket. It’s great for staying warm but can still be put together if you do your makeup and style your hair, speaking of which, let’s talk about Gisele’s.
How Gisele Gets Her Bronde Color
Gisele is a natural brunette, which you can tell from her roots, but she and longtime hairstylist Harry Josh have perfected her bronde (a crossover between blonde and brunette) to the point where it’s become synonymous with her.
Luckily Harry Josh shared the exact formula that he uses to get her blonde highlights, so you can take it to your stylist. And get this, it’s super simple: highlights with 20 volume bleach. But since everyone’s hair reacts differently to bleach, it will take some time for your stylist to help you achieve that result. I recommend showing your stylist reference photos of Gisele’s hair when it’s the closest to what you’re looking for and going from there. Balayage is one really natural-looking technique you could ask for!
How To Get Her Signature Beach Waves
You’ll want to start off with clean hair. Josh likes John Frieda shampoo and conditioner. (He should, considering he’s the International Creative Consult for the brand.) Depending on your hair texture, you may also want to use their curl activating spray. Next, dry your hair in quarter sections using a diffuser to maximize your natural texture. Then curl small sections of hair downward with a one-inch curling wand, making sure to alternate the direction you wrap your hair around the barrel. Use hairspray and just wait because these waves are going to look good for the next few days, so have your dry shampoo at the ready!
If there’s something I can do to replicate the look of a woman as beautiful as Gisele, I’m on board. I love her carefree sense of style that’s perfect for a capsule wardrobe since it involves so many basics. Who knew it was so easy to have the style and hair of a supermodel?
