Germany Passed A Law That Lets Parents "Transition" Their Babies Starting The Moment They're Born

Germany’s Bundestag recently enacted the Self-Determination Act, a law that has sent shockwaves through the nation and beyond. While supporters say it's a victory for transgender rights, the law is facing scathing criticism from those who rightly recognize it as monstrously inhumane child abuse.

At the core of the so-called Self-Determination Act is the recent shift in how gender identity is recognized and regulated in Germany, which is currently underway in the United States via the Biden administration.

By elevating "gender identity" to a protected characteristic, the new law allows individuals to alter their sex on all official documents. This unprecedented move not only disregards the best research on "gender-affirming care," but also destroys legal norms and creates massive problems when it comes to privacy, safety, and the integrity of official records.

However, the most devastating aspect of this new law is its allowance for parents to unilaterally change the recorded sex of their children, starting from birth, solely based on the parent's preference.

According to Reduxx Magazine, "If parents choose to do so, they may alter the identifying information of their children from birth. The SBGG stipulates that the consent of a child is necessary from the age of five, and, 'from the age of 14, minors can do it themselves, but require the consent of their guardians.' However, should parents refuse to provide legal permission, 'a family court would decide based on the best interests of the child,' thus allowing the state to overrule the wishes of parents or legal guardians."

Reduxx reports that the law was supported by Germany's Socialist Democratic Party, and it also states that citizens could be fined up to almost $11,000 for using a person's legal name and biological sex without their permission.

Two male political activists who identify as women were vocal supporters of the bill. Markus "Tessa" Ganserer claims that “a penis is not a male sexual organ” and “there are women who have penises.” At age 41, Ganserer began identifying as a woman after years of stealing his wife’s clothes. He has also reportedly been using women's only spaces long before the passage of the new law.

The other trans activist who pushed for the new law, Nyke Slawik, stated, "It is about time that we put an end to the unnecessarily long expert opinions and court proceedings to change names as an injustice, and that we finally respect the dignity of trans, intersex, and non-binary people today."

Another key supporter of the legislation is Sven Lehmann, one of its most vocal advocates. Lehmann is a member of the German Parliament and has been nicknamed the "Queer Commissioner" due to his frequent involvement in government-funded initiatives to normalize various sexual practices (including "humiliation play" and BDSM), especially among teenagers.

When he received backlash for confessing in an interview to using Grindr during meetings in Parliament, he justified the statement by claiming, “Grindr is also work" and denounced his critics as “TERFs”

Thankfully, the new law has ignited a firestorm of protests across Germany, with women’s rights groups mobilizing in unprecedented numbers, although many of the female protestors are reporting increased aggression and attacks from trans activists.

Protest organizer Rona Duwe’s experience, in particular, demonstrates the very real dangers this law creates when it comes to free speech and the safety of women and children. She detailed the harassment that she and other protesters received to Reduxx, stating, "We are afraid that the police, state, and judicial persecution against feminists will increase. [Trans activists] are becoming more and more aggressive. Some also came to us during our protest and mocked us or laughed at us. One was shouting that all feminist organizations in Germany welcomed the Self-Determination law.”

As Germany grapples with the fallout from this controversial legislation, let's hope the United States pays attention and learns from its mistakes.
