Demi-Leigh And Tim Tebow Are Expecting Their First Baby, And They're "Over the Moon" With Joy

The Tebow household is about to get a whole lot livelier! Tim Tebow and his wife, Demi-Leigh , are expecting their first child, and the news is as heartwarming as it is exciting. The couple, who tied the knot in January 2020 after meeting in 2018, shared the announcement exclusively with PEOPLE. "We are just so excited and so over the moon to be having a baby together," Demi-Leigh, 29, told PEOPLE . Meanwhile, Tim, 37, added that he’s “honored for the privilege of getting the responsibility and the joy of being mom and dad." The couple’s love story has always felt like something out of a movie: The former Miss Universe and a retired NFL quarterback finding their happily-ever-after. Demi-Leigh gushed, "I'm so grateful because I just couldn't imagine a better life partner to do life with first and foremost." She continued, "To be able to raise a little tiny human being together. I'm so grateful that Tim is my husband... that we get to do parenting together." Can you even imagine how cute their parenting moments are going to be? The gravity of becoming first-time parents hasn’t completely sunk in for Tim just yet, though! "But when I’m with her and I see the belly growing, then it just becomes so real," he admitted. Demi-Leigh, who’s now 16 weeks along, echoed the surreal nature of their news. "I feel like every time I say, ‘Tim’s going to be a dad!’ it feels so surreal," she says. Their fifth wedding anniversary is just around the corner (January 20, for those keeping track), and what a way to celebrate! When asked about what kind of parents they’ll be, Tim didn’t hesitate to highlight his wife’s strengths. "She will be extremely loyal and loving. Demi is someone that is extremely determined. When she sets her mind to something, she goes all the way in—and I know that she will do that as a mom, too," he said. Demi-Leigh added, "Tim is one of the most thoughtful people. He is literally one of the best gift-givers I have ever met... I just think that he’s one of the wisest people I have met—and I know that’s a bold statement to make, but I truly believe it." The first trimester is no joke, and Demi-Leigh didn’t sugarcoat it. "The amount of tiredness that you feel is just unfathomable," she said, admitting the early months of pregnancy weren’t exactly a walk in the park. But now, she’s feeling better and embracing her pregnancy journey wholeheartedly. "I have loved being pregnant... I have gained the absolute just new respect for moms, especially moms that are working," she shared, adding that she’s learned to be "gracious" with herself. From Miss Universe to Mama Bear For those who don’t know, Demi-Leigh has always been an icon. As the winner of Miss Universe 2017, she’s used her platform for good, whether it's writing her memoir, A Crown That Lasts , or focusing on her faith and purpose. Tim also shared how the news of Demi’s pregnancy has shifted his perspective, saying, "It’s just amazing how it also reprioritizes and changes what you put an emphasis on and what you value most."
