Courtney Love, 59, had some surprising things to say about this generation's top female artists.

In an interview with a British outlet called The Standard, Love slammed the world's most famous celebrities. "Now, every successful woman is cloned, so there is just too much music. They're all the same. If you play something on Spotify, you get bombarded with a lot of stuff that's exactly the same," Love said.

Elsewhere in the interview, the former singer said that "Taylor [Swift] is not important." She didn't stop there, adding that "She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”

Love also wasn't a fan of Lana Del Rey, who headlined this year's Coachella. "I haven’t liked Lana since she covered a John Denver song, and I think she should really take seven years off,” she said. “Up until ‘Take Me Home Country Roads’ I thought she was great. When I was recording my new album, I had to stop listening to her as she was influencing me too much."

Madonna is not safe from the shots fired by Love, either. She's coming after everyone! “I don’t like her and she doesn’t like me. I loved Desperately Seeking Susan, but for the city of New York as much as her,” she said.

Now social media audiences aren't going easy on Love, returning the same energy that she put out. A few accounts on Instagram responded to the announcement of Love blasting the women and wrote, "Who?"

"No one knows who this is," said @tmlovesred2 on X/Twitter.

"first of all, who is this..." @Ammarlovereto13 added.

However, some people agree with Love in regards to Swift. @takecarehours on the platform stated, "facts, she’s basic and generic and easy to relate to that’s why her music sells but there’s no real artistry."

This is not the first time Love has slammed a younger artist. In 2021, she called Olivia Rodrigo "rude" for allegedly copying the cover of Hole's 1994 album Live Through This for a promotional video without giving her credit.

The iconic cover, photographed by Ellen von Unwerth, showcases a prom queen (modeled by Leilani Bishop) in a tiara and bouquet, mascara smudged from tears of joy. Rodrigo's photo closely mirrors Love's, with her donning a tiara and clutching roses, complete with mascara streaks on her cheeks.

Love reposted the image to Facebook with the caption, "Can you spot the difference? #twinning! @oliviarodrigo."

She said, "It was rude of her, and geffen not to ask myself or Ellen von unwerth. It's happened my whole career so i.d.c. But manners is manners."

"Stealing an original idea and not asking permission is rude. There's no way to be elegant about it. I'm not angry. It happens all the time to me," Love continued.

"I'm very gracious or say nothing. But this was bad form," Love added. "That's not bullying or bomb throwing. This persons music has nothing to do with my life. Possibly never will. It was rude and I (have) every right to stick up for my work."

When Rodrigo was asked about Love's comments, she told GQ, “To be honest, I’m just flattered that Courtney Love knows that I exist.”
