Nicola Coughlan, who has starred in Bridgerton and Derry Girls, has spoken up before about how uncomfortable she is with people commenting on her body rather than her work. In an op-ed for The Guardian in 2018, she wrote, "Something in our society tells us that women’s bodies are fair game for scrutiny in a way that men’s simply are not."

Nicola Is Asking You To Keep Your Opinions to Yourself

"If you have an opinion about my body please, please don't share it with me," Nicola wrote. She wrote this caption as an accompaniment to a selfie in her New York hotel room before she went on the set of SNL.

Nicola wrote that she understands that she is in the public eye and that people will inevitably have opinions about her. "Most people are being nice and not trying to be offensive but I am just one real life human being and it’s really hard to take the weight of thousands of opinions on how you look being sent directly to you every day," she wrote. "People will have things to think and say but I beg you not to send it to me directly."

The 35-year-old Irish actress has always been outspoken about this topic, urging people to see women for more than their physique.

You can catch Nicola in the upcoming season 2 of Bridgerton.
