It’s been 25 years since the deadliest attack on American soil. The terrorist hijackers who used commercial airplanes as weapons flew into the World Trade Center buildings in New York City and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. A fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, was headed toward Washington, D.C., but never reached its intended target. In total, the attacks killed nearly 3,000 people over the span of almost two hours on a sunny Tuesday morning.
