Earlier this month when the United States turned 250 years old, to acknowledge the Fourth of July felt like a political statement. Even institutions like the Smithsonian pushed the idea that the 250th anniversary should be “problematized” rather than honored. Celebrating the amazing things our country has accomplished and the incredible things that are enshrined in our Constitution should be something we can all get behind, wherever our vote lands on Election Day.
