30 Mother’s Day Gifts For The Analog Mom

The “analog mom” isn’t rejecting modern life. She’s choosing to be more present within it. Here’s what to give her this Mother’s Day.

When we’re surrounded by the sort of technology that our grandparents could only imagine, it can be easy to forget that innovation doesn’t always have to mean complexity. Sometimes innovation is refinement—a studied cultivation of what makes something beautiful and meaningful. A good song isn’t good because it uses the most recent production technology. A dress isn’t lovely because it was made faster than dresses in the past. And our food doesn’t taste better because we’ve come up with novel ways to preserve it.

This search for a higher quality of life is why some women are turning toward analog experiences, products, and lifestyles. Granted, not all things were better in the past. We can leave behind the days when home cooking meant opening a variety of cans, fashion was made almost entirely from plastic, and everyone assumed cigarettes were harmless. And it certainly wouldn’t be easy, practical, or even desirable to live without all modern inventions and conveniences.

But while on the surface, opting for VHS over Netflix in the year 2026 might seem like a trend that could only be born on TikTok, this sort of cultural shift reflects our deep desire to focus on the things that bring us joy rather than the ones that seem to drain us of it. Women choosing analog are seeking refinement of the objects and experiences that make up our lives. We’re seeking a simplicity that feels almost entirely lost.

Motherhood is already complex enough. What we need more than the newest beauty tool or bag trend is permission to be present. Permission to share real experiences with our loved ones without checking our phones every other minute. Permission to feel things deeply, whether it’s the bittersweet ache of seeing newborn photos of the baby who’s now fully grown or the unique refreshment of that long-awaited “everything shower” on the weekends during the early years. Permission to focus on, and cherish, the beauty that is already all around us.

As a mom of two little boys, I am all too familiar with the struggle to stay in the moment. Here are a few things I think might offer a bit of joy, grounding, and presence for the analog mom this Mother’s Day. Whether analog is the way she grew up and she’s craving a return to it, or it’s a novelty for her and she’s itching to try it for the first time, she’ll appreciate the chance to slow down and treasure the moments of motherhood that pass all too quickly.

30. Magnifier Pendant Necklace by The Met

Inspired by a Gilded Age magnifying glass designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany, this elegant 18k gold-plated necklace doubles as a 2x magnifier. Whether she’s reading fine print or examining bugs with her kids, she will love this turn-of-the-century-inspired statement piece.

It’s important to keep in mind that while this is a list of things, the analog aesthetic is more about a turn toward intentionality, toward nature, and toward human connection than it is about accumulating new products. Whatever you choose to give the analog mom in your life, she’ll recognize what you’re really giving her: not just something beautiful, but permission to slow down and savor the life she’s already living.
