We all have our own traditions for the holidays, and New Year’s Eve is no exception. For some people, they go out in a large crowd and watch the ball drop at midnight, and for others, it’s spent with family and friends at home. Everyone has their own style, but it's common to wear something fun with shimmer and sparkle to celebrate in. Your hairstyle for the evening might look different depending on where you go, but there are plenty of ideas for you that require little effort.

No matter what your plans are, consider trying one of these 15 hairstyles for New Year’s Eve!

1. Heatless Low Bun Hairstyle

This hairstyle is for my medium to long hair girlies. First, bring forward some subtle shorter pieces in the front, and use these simple tricks to create an effortless updo. Keep in mind that doing these styles with layers might require more bobby pins.

2. Half-Up Twist

This requires no skill, only two small hair ties. Pull back the top half of your hair and secure it with an elastic, then take another section of hair from each side of your head and pull it together, and then twist it to make a loop and pull the hair in the elastic through the loop to create a twisted half-up style. To make this fancier, feel free to add a barrette or sparkly bobby pin.

3. Hair Tinsel

Who doesn’t want sparkly hair on New Year's Eve? This TikToker explains how she applies tinsel in her hair in a few easy steps. Add in the tinsel and then do any fun hairstyle, or keep it simple with just some curls.

4. High Twisted Half-Up Pony

Something about a high curly ponytail shows confidence. Use elastic hair ties to create this half-up twisted, high ponytail. You could also add in the tinsel to make it even more festive.

5. Sleek Middle Part with Curls and Pearls

For something simple but sleek, curl your hair, then section off the front. Slick back the front sections and secure them behind the ears by tying the ends in a ponytail at the nape of the neck. Then use pearl accents in the front.

6. Banana Clip Pony

This is an easy time-saving hairstyle that still has charm. Curl your hair and use a banana clip to pull it back into a ponytail. Then use a comb or teasing brush to tease some of it out for a more voluminous pony.

7. Low Twisted Ponytail

Similar to the half-up twist, you can do the same thing with a low ponytail. Add in pearl accents or a barrette for something more fun!

8. Chunky Braid

Even if you don’t know how to french braid you can do this. In fact, it doesn’t require french braiding at all, it just looks that way. Use little elastic bands to create this chunky braid style.

9. Loose Curls with Side Tuck

This one is fun for girls with shorter hair, but it will work for anyone. Do your hair in loose waves. On one side, take a section and put it in an elastic band and twist it under. Tuck that and secure it behind your ear.

10. Low Braid Updo

This one is for the ladies who need something a little elegant, but don’t have the time to go crazy. Start with a half-up ponytail twisted under. Then make two braids and cross them up and through the ponytail diagonally into a low updo. Secure it with pins, and add a little barrette or hair accent if you'd like!

11. Decorated Pony

Use these tips to make a simple ponytail stand out a bit more. Then add your hair accessories like pearls to make it more fun.

12. Curly Pony with Headband

Sparkly headbands are the perfect hair accessory for NYE. In this particular style, she had her hair curled, left a few pieces down in the front, put the headband on, and pulled it into a low pony. How simple and easy is that?

13. Multiple Top Twists with Voluminous Curls

With your hair curly and full, take a few small sections on the top and twist them into elastics. Pull the hair tight. You can do this with shorter or longer hair. Use a texture spray and hairspray and give those curls some volume!

14. Crimp and Curl

This hairstyle is super fun for New Year’s. Take a crimping iron and use it on small sections of hair. Then take a curling iron and curl small sections. Keep switching off all over the head. Give it a good spray. Then add in a few sparkly pins.

15. Bubble Pony

You can do different variations of this. Use elastics to create the bubble ponytail. In this tutorial she sections her hair down the middle, takes a front section on each side and does the elastic bubbles.
