Thanksgiving is a few weeks away, which means engagement season is, too. According to The Knot’s 2026 Real Weddings Study, about 40% of proposals happen between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day, and Christmas Day is the single most popular day of the year to get engaged. The Knot’s Jewelry and Engagement Study found that while 83% of people say their proposal was a surprise, more than half of them already knew it was coming soon. They just didn’t know when. So if your boyfriend has been acting a little off lately, you may be onto something (or at least, you’re allowed to wonder).
